problem can be loose battery terminals
dirty battery terminals ( must be shiny clean on both terminals and battery posts) loose battery connections
bad battery ( have a load test done on the battery)
Sounds like you lost the serpentine belt, which runs the alternator. When you heard the ticking sound, did you notice if the battery light came on, Check the belt and fully charge the battery. Do not jump a dead battery. Wear safety glasses when servicing a battery, an explosion and acid hazard exist
Better check the battery as it sure sounds like its dead. The charging system could be at fault also A brand new battery can run down and need a charge if the charging system isnt doing its job Hope this helps you .Good luck!
1) Battery cables disconnected 2) Battery dead, probably shorted. Any other electrical problem, would leave some systems alive. A run down battery that wont turn over the engine, will still be able to power dome lights, or other accesories.
sounds like a bad wire/ground connection.Make sure battery cables are secure to battery and follow them from the battery to there posts.Check to see if they are loose or posts are corroded
if voltage reulator on alt. does not stop current after battery is charged it will over charge battery abd can drain cell from boiling electrolite out.check 4 bulged battery case(swelling) indication of overchaeging.the start problem could be your starter wires connection.remove starter wires clean contacts and torque respectively.dont forget the ground to motor.sounds like a loose or corroded contact somewhere.
