SOURCE: Starter will not turn over

I had this problem and had my vehicle towed to two different places and was out a lot of money to find out it was the key. The security code had reset itself and the explorer acted as if it were being stolen therefore not allowing it to start. It has to be fixed by an authorized Ford Dealership. No one else has the ability to fix it. I hope this helps you not to have to pay two machenics for one problem. Thanks

SOURCE: 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 v6 will not crank

You have a fuel reset switch that needs to be pushed back in. This is why you are not getting any thing to happen

The fuel pump inertia switch is located in your right front passenger
area. It is located on the right side of the transmission hump on the
toe board, just under the edge of the carpet. If you don't see any gas
leaking, or smell any gas, push the button down that has popped up
on the top of the switch. This will allow power to go to your fuel pump.

SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer dies while driving

Easy Fix! I know exactly what ur talking about, had the same problem for ******* ever, and its not the fuel pump, trust me!!! and it will cost you absolutely nothing to fix! I don't know what the hell they're called exactly, but on the right side of your engine there's a black box, next to where you put the coolant in, with fuses in it. They look like one inch cubes and will say Ford right on top. One of them is for the fuel pump. Try switching it with one of the others, or just switching all of them around and ur car will fire up, but the one that's not working will cause something else not to work properly, but at least u'll now what the problem is. Than just do what I did: take one with you and go to a junk yard and pull out a bunch, they're the same on many ford vehicles, even the newer ones, like 2000, not just the explorer. Make sure its the same one, pull out a bunch, put em in ur pocket and leave without paying, nobody will notice anyways, but they're tricky to find at a parts store, surprisingly. When ur car is running beatiful again, come back to this post and tell me if I was right! God knows how many ours I spent in that car stranded, waiting for it to fire up. Sometimes it'd be 5 minutes, sometimes an hour, sometimes hours, even days. Never knew when it would or wouldn't. Thought is was the starter too! If it works, tell me!!!

Testimonial: "you have helped me out so so much you were exactly right and also it happened to my sons dodge neon and it was the same solution thank you so so much "

SOURCE: My focus tdci 1800 ran fine until recently. I was

This is one of them faults thats very difficult to diagnose but if what you say is right then i would change the drivers door lock ,they are repairable as they are a sealed unit on these cars, but i did have a similar problem with a petrol version on one of the first models of these cars about a 99 or 2000 as i remember and it would play up just like this ,open and close the door lock with key three times and it started.then be ok for a week then not start again so i had the key man down with his programmer and he checked it out for the key remote and found nothing wrong with either the master or the spare key and he said try changing the door lock because he had this problem before with other ford focus models and mondeos .Change the lock and it was ok for a week but the owner sold the car for a new car on the scrappage scheme so i never did find out it was ok after that

2002 explorer wont start

You have the symptoms of a defective starter solenoid, the large contacts inside the starter solenoid get eroded over time and finally start to not make connection, that is the click and the no start, in most cases you can get it started by repeated attempts, but in the end it will strand you. The starter solenoid can be rebuilt for about $10 and an hour of your time to remove the starter from the truck.

look at connection to your starter. sometimes the positive cable works loose due to driving conditions. I had same problem with a Suzuki it only did it in cold weather but I ended up replacing the starter.

When trying to start my Ford Explorer 2003 this morning, it cranked but did not start. Does this mean that I have to get a new starter motor or starter wires? We only changed the battery 9 months ago....

If the motor cranks than your battery and starter motor is ok. It sound like a fuel problem, does it do it on when cold, does it start ok once it has started and it has warmed up, if your vehicle is fuel injected than look into the cold start or even have your injectors serviced.

Will not start in cold weather. Engine will crank and try to start and started all summer but last spring and now that the weather has turned turned cold. It will start first thing in the morning and it...

Get your battery voltage checked. The cold weather will reduce the strength of your battery. The starter solenoid is trying to engage the starter but it doesn't have enough power from the battery to make it happen. If the battery voltage is low then get it recharged .The voltage of fully charged battery will show near to 12 volts.--------------That's it.

MY 92 INTEGRA WON'T START IN MORNING AND I CHANGED THE STARTER BUT THE SAME STILL

Does it start any other time? Did it start after you replaced the starter? If yes then it's your battery/charging system that needs checking out.You might start at night, then drive with your headlights and radio on draining your battery. Then in the morning it's too weak to start.Have someone Jump start your car, have them leave the jumpers on for 15 minutes, then rev the engine while you try to start the engine,if it starts it's not your starter, never was,it's a faulty charging system that depletes your battery's starting power (cold cranking amps) Good Luck.

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan does not start

could be the starter but could also be a relay that is not working properly. the relays are under the hood. you would have to have someone under the hood and someone turning the key at the same time to see if the relay is working. if it works every time you turn the key then its probably the starter.
