I have a 92 Izuzu Rodeo 3.1L V6. It starts great but when i gas it it staggers a lot when going up hill or on the highway. It is not fuel injected. It has a caborator. Any idea what it can be. I live in Belize :-)

Yeah it has a carborator. The carborator works just fine. I was told maybe the throttle body needs change. Any idea where i can get one? Thanks.

Wires on the wiring harness need to be replaced. The dealer will want you to get the work done for $1200.

"when the fuel pump kicks....it makes a very short duration sound....you can hear it....but in seconds it will be gone......as gasoline has made its way to the engine.........

if you cant hear any noise from the fuel pump......it could be that the fuel pump realy is bad........if you happen to change the relay....and it still does not work.....then it is the fuel pump. that is fried.......

about the water.....i am not shure......unless there was water in the gasoline itself....or somebody put water in there in purpose....

hope this helps...

SOURCE: rodeo won't start after driving until it cools down

it's probably a fuel injection problem. the seals wear or get some little bit of junk in seal surface and are unable to completely close. it's not a problem as long as the engine is running, the seals let in a little more fuel and the computer adjusts for it. after you shut it off the leaky seals let the fuel into the cylinders and then if you try to start it up it is for all intents and purposes a flooded engine. if you don't try to start it again for a good while the fuel that leaked into the cylinders evaporates or runs down into your oil pan. anyway, it's not there and so your engine is not flooded and it starts like it's supposed to. obviously i haven't looked at your vehicle and that's just a guess but it's based on vehicles i have seen. hope that helps

SOURCE: 99 Rodeo 3.2 V6 fuel injected .

sounds like u may need a new fuel pump, the problem is the system doesn't hold fuel pressure after shut down, the check valve that does this is part of the fuel pump in the gas tank.

Is the 1992 isuzu rodeo, automatic - fuel injected? that is, do you need to give it any gas to start?

No, you don't have to press the accelerator in fuel injected engines. That's a general rule for all fuel injected engines.

Carbureted engines require that you push the accelerator slightly when starting.

Good luck on using your fuel injected vehicle.

While driving down the highway at any speed it begins to spit and sputter try to die if you put it in nutreul and give it gas it levels off and goes on or u can pull over kill it and restart and it picks...

after about 100,000 miles a rodeo needs new O2 sensors. But this also could be your fuel pump, these cars have the market pumps on them and they go bad very quickly as far as fuel pumps go. Your engine could be struggling to go because it's not getting enough gasoline, or one or more of your coils could be bad and in need of replacing. Get a tune up, I got one on mine and it increased power, MPG and smoothness. You can also get a mechanic to hook up a machine to tell what's wrong with the engine, costs 50-80 bucks depending on the mechanic.

hope it helps
