Remote died and the alarm keeps going off, replaced battery to remote and the alarm is still going off

The remote to lock and unlock my car died. I has my son unlock and open the door from the inside and the alarm went off. I got a new battery and the remote didn't work. The alarm still goes off when I manually open the door.

Try having the key in the 'on' position then disconnect the engine battery for two minutes , reconnect and check system.

SOURCE: Remote Door Lock/Unlock will not work.

At first look, I would have guessed that your battery in the door opener was dead, but that is not the case. I suggest driving to a nearby Chevy dealer and ask one of the salesman if he/she can help. They have always been helpful to me. If not try another one as they are in business to sell not only cars, but service also. They will be your best bet to fixing it. :D

SOURCE: VW 2000 New Beetle door sensor/car alarm goes off when doors open.

I found a thread - http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1542461 that details the repair of the soldering on the key lock door module. Our 2000 new beetle had the same issue. Also sometimes it refused to start. Soldering pins fixed it all.

Also see http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107 for releasing window from track, And door handle from inner panel.

I ripped the door apart and re-solderd the pins. I only had one pin with cracked solder but two others looked thin so I did them while I was in there. It's about a four or five hour project if you have all the tools. (8mm triple square also called an 8mm internal was the hardest to find - Also needed Torx T8 T10 T15 and T30 plus Philips Screw Driver. )
Project is difficult but not too bad for the mechanically inclined. A 7 on a scale of 10.
Since re-soldering pins - no more issues! My guess is that a VW dealer would get $200 for a new moduel plus 5 hours of service time for this gig - easily a $500 to $1000 bill. My cost - several new tools - about $25.00.

SOURCE: Jag S-Type -intermitent fault where the remote fob does not work

This does not sound like a fob fault - but a locking control module fault , either in the hardware or software of the unit. Get it checked at a Jaguar dealers. When unlocking using the key - as soon as the door is opened you should hear a chime sounding inside the car - this is a timer counting down to sounding the alarm. If you put your key in the ignition as soon as you open the door the alarm should not go off and the chime should stop. If it does not this again points to a fault in the locking controller.
hope this helps - good luck.

SOURCE: VW Beetle Alarm goes off for no apparent reason

the sensitivity on the alarm itself is too high, or there is something around the car that is interfering with the frequencies that are sent / received by the alarm itself, like other car alarms, power lines (mine actually did it when i parked under a power line) or the alarm unit itself is malfunctioning.

make sure that nothing is around to the (other cars with alarms) or look up under your dash, above your pedals (might have to take the trim plate off) and / or turn the sensitivity knob (flat-head screw driver, or just a simple protruding knob) down. make sure the battery in the remote is good too. if it stil ldoes it after this, then your remote needs to be reprogrammed.

You can probably pull the horn relay to kill the horn while you are working on the problem.
With the battery connected to a jumper, try locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key. If that works, make sure the battery gets charged before you unhook the jumper cables to keep the computer memory alive.

My battery died and now the factory alarm goes off as soon as I hook up the battery. How can I fix the alarm

Hook your battery up, then use your remote to lock then unlock the doors a few times. Sensors in the door lock should reset the alarm. If you dont have a remote , use your key. Do both doors as sometimes one wont do it. Mike

97 sebring will not run because alarm system wont let it, it just keeps blowing horn and flashing lights.

replace battery in the remote. There should be instructions in the manual if you have one. I believe you need to replace battery and make sure remote is working. then you unlock and lock doors while holding the trunk button do this several time until you let go of unlock button and the locks move by themselves. This is how you reset the car security system. The reason it does this is so no one can steal the car. Or take it to a dealer and ask them to fix the alarm. I hope this helps the owner of the car. lol

you may need to call a dealership and ask them about it they are most familiar with their systems and can tell you how to shut it off and possibly tell you how to keep it disarmd
