Hot engine ?, cold or both,, EFI runs in 3 modes, cold ,warm and hot.

name it.

which engine option (displacement)??????

there is no idle adjust, that is the PCMs, job 100%, all the time.

Carbs are gone.

here is rule one for all EFI.

idle is the last thing to work correctly.

anything the causes a gross imbalance of engine power to engine load, under idle will cause , idle controls to fail.

low idling causes. (over 50 but, here ar basics)

1: AFR (air fuel mixture too lean) usually surges. (clogged or leaking injectors. or fuel pressure way to high)

2: air leaks, cause racing, so not that. (speed density car ,if is)

3: egr stuck open. low idle and misfire.

4: ISC stuck closed (IAC electric)

5: cam belt slipped, timing retarded, compression at 1/2 spec, and well, valve will bend soon....

6: CEL glowing running? can be in limphome, limp cancels Idle controls (in may cases) RTM read the FSM on DTCs.

if fails hot?, is hot = 180F temp or more? "thermometer time"

if not, the PCM goes , quite nuts.

SOURCE: idle is too low, car dies, engine runs fine

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The car computer or ECM (electronic control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the IAC motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air.
An IAC motor is highly susceptible to carbon and coking build up; if an IAC goes too long without cleaning it can cause stalling and poor idle quality. Some cars are designed with a large vacuum transfer hose that connects the intake manifold to the IAC (idle air control) motor. If a broken or dilapidated these vacuum lines can cause the engine to lose vacuum which will allow the engine to run rough and die.
Inspect all engine and accessory vacuum lines to look for missing, torn or dilapidated lines and replace as needed. To check the IAC motor remove the unit, with the wires connected turn the key to the "on" position without starting the engine, the IAC should move in or out.
If the IAC motor does nothing it has probably failed, replace it with a new unit and recheck system. Note: while the IAC motor is removed clean (use aerosol carburetor cleaner) the passages the IAC uses to control idle air speed.

Good luck and hope this helps

SOURCE: engine idle is too low once air conditioner is turned on

Take idle air control valve off & give it & port it came out of a good cleaning with throttle body spray cleaner, and see if that cures it. If it does, but starts to do it again later, replace it.

Idle Rpm Too High.

A high idle is caused by either a massive vacuum leak or a sticking idle speed control valve. I would think you have a vacuum leak, use a can of carb spray and shot around the top[ of the engine, if you hit a leak the engine will sound different, repair as needed.

1994 toyota 22re engine, just rebuilt. has a low idle and dies at a stop sign.. other than that it runs great

clean out the throttle body if did nit do it other than that if you used the same old MAF or mass air flow adjust it why it was set for the old condition truck engine also there is a idle up on the throttle body make sure that gasket o ring are not torn then find the idle control its either a black knob or white adjust the idle setting and you will be good again

The 1984 Toyota 4x4 pickup truck will not idle

On a 1984 Toyota I would look for a screw to set the low speed idle on the carburetor, if so equipped. Turn the screw until the RPMs are reasonable.

If you can maintain a smooth idle by adjusting the screw your home free.

If not, then there could be other problems with your vehicle's emission, ignition, comprression, or fuel.

How do you adjust the carb on a 2.4 engine, 94 nissan pickup

You should have an air mixture and an idlig screw. The air mixture screw is set first untill engine idles evenly. then the idling screw is set untill the idling is as slow, being even, as possible. 800 to 850 RPM should do the trick. Then go back to air screw and FINELY adjust. Try to keep air filter onand make sure it is clean, new and not leaking air.
