Stalls while driving

1.6 Zetec, Automatic, 75,000 miles. Starts and runs great except periodically it just dies while driving it (cruising along at 50 mph). If I'm rolling it starts itself back up. When I'm not moving I have to turn the key but it starts right back up. No chugging, missing, hesitation, or even any code light. I don't know where to start looking, I've never had a car do this before.

The Check engine light has never come on, so I did'nt think there would be any codes to get.

The problem with your van is the CAM Sensor, I believe the noise you are hearing is kind of a chirping sound. I just had mine fixed (12/19/09) it was about $150 for parts and labor from a local Mech. not a dealer.

SOURCE: Stalls at low speed when in cruise control

You sould have recieved a "recall" notice in the mail about the cruise control for fire and failure issues. they are adding a fusable link where the cruise control harness connects to the brake master cylinder. if you have not had the recall performed yet you should SERIOUSLY consider getting it done, mainly so it doesnt catch fire, but "could" be the result of the failure you've been experiancing! btw, almost ALL Ford vehicles have been affected with the cruise control recall. hope this helps!

SOURCE: Ford 460 loses power then dies. Starts back up. Idles fine.

It sounds like you might have a clogged catalatic converter on the exhaust system.

1998 Dodge Dakota 5.2. It starts and runs great for about 5 miles then stalls.

For 5 miles it is running on choke. Try cleaning the Throttle Body and MAF.

If that doesn't work, you need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. It can record exactly what goes wrong at 5 miles and diagnose the fault.

It appears to be a known fault

Starts and runs great but dies when you hit the brakes it dies

engine stalls.
can be 50 reasons
but are this.
needs a 60k mile tune up bad.
1: EFI system has 12vdc power loss. (see dash dim?)_
2: engine misfires. horribly and idle controls failed, (all will like that)
3: engine floods, same.
4: engine fueling drops so low and lean the engine stalls.
5: bad engine, cam time or sparking way off or 45 other engine prob.
there is a test for each one, need a list?
and last, 6: the ISC is stuck close, or EGR stuck open

did you pull the DTC scan codes, the CEL blink test?
from the ECU?
is the CEL glowing (lamp in dash) running?
omg, this is not a carb engine is it, many 87 were.
1987 is a cusp year, in USA for end off all carbs. (EPA rules)

I have a 2007 Suzuki xl7. When I first start down the road it seems to drive fine but within 1/2 to 1 mile it starts running very rough, leaping along. This goes for about another 1 to 3 miles. It runs...

ok and XL 7 but what engine options. gas, diesel, 2L , 2.5L?
what?
and most important , and never ever 1 time stated on this forum
what country.
leaping?

im not sure what you are saying.
it runs ok cold, and as it warms , the engine. it stalls.?
and what does same thing mean.?
my guess, it starts fine then stalls; hot.
but can you save the stall?

stalling is complex. can be many systems in the car.
but can be broken down to :
Ever did the 60k mile tune up,ever? if not why not.
never skip 60k\'s or the motor will run like garbage.

1: lost electrical power. to EFI .
2: bad engine, in that when it gets hot , it loses compression.
3: lost park. 1 or more cylinders, 4 or 6 you never said.
4: bad injection. 1 or 6 of them, flooding or starving.
5: bad fuel.
6:EGR sticking , usually this happens just before a stop sign.
7: if the stall was a bog and the fast right foot saved the stall, easy
the ISC is sticking closed.

My 1999 grand prix stalls and dies at stops.

My Pontiac Grand Prix is also a 99, it has 216,+ thousand miles on it, it runs great, idles good, I need to replace the oxygen sensor tho as it shuts off on me while driving or sometimes coming to a stop. You might try checking the fuel filter and pump as well.

Starts fine, Idles fine, Drives Fine for a while

you might want to chk. the crank sensor and or cam sensor. sounds more to me that it could be fuel problem. chk. fuel pressure. pump could be on its way out. don't be fooled by hearing the pump running as they sound like they are pumping but there not, at least not enought pressure to keep it running. pressure should be around 50 p.s.i.
