1999 ranger keeps blowing coolant out the reservoir. Shop did pressure test this morning and confired not leaks in the system however said something is causing the pressure to build to much. Any idea as to what I might check? Replaced thermostat yesterday and it didnt help, however it did overheat yesterday morning and my step father had to come get me from side the road. He took and punched a hole in the thermostat filled the the radiator back up so I could make it to his house and replace the thermostat.

SOURCE: 2.3l ranger keeps overheating, been through two radiators already.

Hello Ranger Joe, eight months and two radiators is very uncommon. Question, Have you visually confirmed the leak in the radiators or is the leak near the hose connections? Replacing the radiator, cap, water pump, & the thermostat leaves only two others, the hoses and the engine block/heads. Far fitched will be something or somebody poking holes in the radiator.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford Contour HEATING problem

replace the heat controls in the dash, just og to the junk yard and get a new one, you can actually replace this yourself.

where the unit is, you have to remove all of the botls around it, just feel around for them and unscrew them. this will loosin the panel, pull the panel off, adn you will see there is 4 screws holding the heat controls in, unscrew them, and pull the control out, you will have to unplug a couple of plugs and undo a hard wire form the top, it is frustrating, but you have to hold the hard wire and turn the control tword the pasenger side of the car to pop it out, it is possible there is a clip holding itdown, if so just push on the bottom of the clip and it will pop out. and do the same to put the new one in.

SOURCE: Radiator blockage?

I believe you have a head gasket blown or a cracked head. When you start it up COLD with the cap off, it would push water out immediately. Fill it with plain water and try this. It might not be a bad idea to perform a pressure test too. Also check for antifreeze in the oil. It will get milky looking and might even be over full. If this happens after warm-up, you may just have a plugged radiator. Have it professionally cleaned. The water pump vanes could also possibly be corroded off and it's not effectively displacing coolant. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: heater blows cold air. I have replaced thermostat,

Not an expert by any means, but i know my ranger.. I had a small leak at the top of my radiator that still cooled the engine but didnt have enough pressure to get to the heater. The heater hoses travel up over the engine and just were not gettin anything to my heater core. That or make sure the heater control valve is operating.

Coolant disappears, but why no visible leakage?

You need to get your hands on a coolant pressure tester and pump the system up to 16 psi to test for leaks. Pull spark plugs, disable fuel pump relay and check for seepage into the combustion chambers, after the test crank the motor over and see if it comes out the spark plug holes, possible bad head gasket, also check to see if heater core is leaking out the ac condensation tube. Rent the tool, if possible, they also sell a shop air style too that can be adjusted to keep 16psi at the fill reservoir all the time instead of pumping and pumping up the system with the hand pump tester.

Low Coolant Problem(Also electrical)

you definitely have a leak somewhere or worse headgasket leaking by some coolant or the waterpump leaking through the weep hole. but to answer your question (depending on the car type and model) theres a sensor in the reservoir canister that may be bad. hope that helps..

What might the issue be with my 2002 dodge caravan overheating?

Hi, No you did not break anything. It just happened by coinsident.
You need to replace the thermostat and put new fluid in. Not just water. If it happens again do a radiator flush and check if fan is working properly. Good luck.

Loses water from resevoir but not from radiator

So the level keeps dropping in the reservoir? If you have to keep adding coolant to the reservoir, the system is leaking or losing coolant somewhere. Have the system pressure tested to find the leak. Is the reservoir itself leaking? When the level gets low enough, first the reservoir will go dry, then the radiator level will start to drop.
Here's how the reservoir works: coolant is under pressure from the radiator cap seal. As coolant heats up from hot engine, it expands, and pressure forces the radiator cap seal up, coolant is forced into the reservoir-remember the hot mark on the reservoir? When car is shut off, coolant contracts, creating a vacuum in top of radiator. This vacuum works to suction coolant back from reservoir into the radiator, keeping the radiator topped up, and coolant should now be at the lower cold mark on the reservoir. It is a closed, sealed system. The only loss of coolant will be a very small amount of evaporation from the reservoir. If coolant level keeps dropping, there is a leak somewhere.

1999 ford taurus antifreeze pushes out reserve reservoir at start-up pressure builds bad whats the problem???

I would think you have a badly leaking engine cylinder head gasket. Have a shop test for that.

Small drop of antifreeze every morning just under new water pump.

If there is dye in the system, use a black light and look over the entire engine and cooling system. Besides obvious things also look over the entire engine block. There are freeze plugs on the engine block that are designed to "pop" if the coolant ever freezes to prevent engine block damage. These plugs can develop small leaks. This is barring any more likely minor leaks in the the hoses, radiator, reservoir, or other places coolant is circulated like the heater core.

My car overheats and blows steam from reservoir

Check your radiator pressure cap see if theres too much pressure in it. If not that which I think it is, your thermostat may be stuck closed.
