I’m concerned someone disconnected my computer on my Mazda 3 from sending out codes. How can I check for this?

Do you have a OBD II code tester? If not go to autozone or whatever part store you go to and ask them to hook up a OBD II reader to check if the port is working. Usually found under your dash somewhat near the gas pedal. If it responds that it cant establish connection to read codes, then ya maybe its disconnected. When my truck was stolen the guy disconnected the OBD2 reader port and I had a unknown check engine light on so couldn't pass emissions or hook up a pay per mile cheap car insurance until I hooked the wires back up...

07 mini s codes 2fc6 and 2bd0

Please convert these codes to standard OBD2 fault codes. Use a code reader and hook it to the diagnostic port under the dash on the drivers side (most cars) You can take it to any of the chain auto parts stores like Autozone and they can read the codes for you then post them back here.

2002 chevy camaro diagnostic port not working I cant get reading when I plug into diagnostic port.

Check your grounds. Check on top of the port. I found a penny on the top of mine and it shorted out the brain box. Take to autozone, orielly's or advance auto to get hooked uo for FREE. They might help. I had to replace the brainbox.

How do I find or get Error Codes for a 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L?, is it by turning my key in the ignition?, on the dash?? Tazz-Man

On all GM cars you will need a OBD2 code reader, this hooks up to a diagnostic port under the dash in front of the driver. This is the only method to read codes. Kragen and Autozone will scan the system for free, other parts stores offer this service as well.

Will not shift into overdrive?

Hook up your On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Reader and read the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). Mine was P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) malfunction. After VSS replacement, all was fine.

Have a warning light lighting up on my 2000 jeep.kinda looks like a movie camera.what does it mean? its upper right hand corner of dash....

That is a actually a side view of an engine, which is called a CEL ( Check Engine Light) and it will be lit up Orange in color. When it lights up it means the (ECM) Computer in the car is telling you that it has received a Trouble Code from a sensor or engine component and you need to have a OBD II (On Board Diagnostic II ) scanner or code reader hooked up to the Diagnostic Port located under the driver's side footwell. The reader will extract a specific code from the computer which a mechanic will look up and they can determine what component needs to be repaired or replaced. You can go to any AutoZone store and you can have the code read for free. Click on the link below for more information pertaining to this event.

PCM Troubleshooting Check light on with no code reader power

You can't jump the connector to get codes on OBD II. (Pre 1996) Try hooking back up you code reader. If it doesn't communicate, check the fuse for the cig lighter. This fuse should also power up the diagnostic plug.

2000 windstar speedometer

First thing to do from a repair perspective is to hook up a scan tool to the OBD2 port.Go into the real time data stream and see if the vehicle computer is seeing a vehicle speed signal. If the computer is not seeing a speed signal, then it is likely a malfunctioning speed sensor on the transmission, and will have stored trouble codes with numbers and definitions. If the vehicle computer IS seeing a speed signal from the trans, then the speedometer gauge in the dash is malfunctioning.Either way,the vehicle computer has to be accessed with a scan tool,or code reader.Every diagnostic trouble code, has a diagnostic route. The diagnostic route is available through pay sources like All Data online.
