SOURCE: heat fluctuation on temp gauge
change the sending unit to the fan, if that doesnt work check for power too the fan or even a bad fan
SOURCE: 2003 intrepid over heating
check and see if there is a bleeder for the cooling system its usally located be the thermostat , there is a posibility it could be air bound. also if your claim is overheating and you are seeing this on the gauge try to verify coolant temp with a scanner you may have a bad sensor for the gauge-Goodluck

Start the engine when cool, remove rad cap and start engine and let it run with the heater on. (not defrost) Top up coolant as needed in rad, and let it run until either the rad fan comes on and off 2 or 3 times, or you can see increased flow in rad from thermostat opening. It will obviously happen after it reaches operating temperature, so watch after gauge gets close to there. Wait until you see that flow 2 or 3 times or fan comes on and off before you put cap on, and fill return bottle to proper level as well. That should cure it, by getting air out of system, and coolant flowing through heater core.
SOURCE: KIA IS STILL OVERHEATING,
The thermostat is the engine temp controller. All the sensors do is relay information.
Are you sure your over heating. Has anyone infrared temp tested the actual temperature.
If you are really overheating a temp gun can test differnnt areas to try to find a blockage somewhere.
You could have a clogged radiator if you used a sealer in the coolant pryor to doing the head gasket.

If it's a 1.4 then it's likely to be headgasket failure. There is a thicker headset available as this is a noted problem....
Talk to Rimmer Bros (google it) and they'll help you get the part.
