Remove the aftermarket alarm. They plague factory electronics anyways.

1996 jeep cheroke lorado how to reset alarm?

Turn the door key in liftgate key cylinder. That will shut off the factory security. If it's an aftermarket alarm system, you will need the user's manual for that particular alarm to shut it off.

How do i turn off the alarm system? i bought it used and it didnt have an alarm clicker with the key.

You have to take it to the dealer with your proof of ownership. Only they can supply and recode a factory alarm remote

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee alarm will set on its own when closing the door even if I do not set the alarm with the remote. Is this normal?

Are you using the power door locks after the car is turned off?
This too (I find) will engage the alarm, automatically.

in my opinion, the jeep factory supplied alarm system is not "normal"
i am still trying to figure out how to permanently disengage

Lost alarm remote and jeep wont start

Is this a factory alarm, or after market? If its a factory alarm you can disarm the sytem using the key, insert into the door and turn the key so the door unlocks, this will disable the alarm.

If it's an aftermarket installed by a stereo shop, there should be a valet switch under the dash or somewhere, put the key in the ignition, turn forward and flip the dip switch in the other direction. If not, then you will need to go under the dash, find the alarm box and pull the plug out.

Factory security system

I had an aftermarket alarm on a Wrangler and encountered the same problem. With the car off I disconnected the battery, then pulled the fuse(s) for the alarm. I waited to reconnect the battery for about 10 minutes because the computer can hold memory with no power source for a short amount of time. (I did not put the alarm fuses back in.) This disables the alarm, but atleast the Jeep started.
