2002 Tribute periodically won't start. Turns over

Next will be;plugs,wires,coils,fuel filter.

I am not familiar with hybrids, but i think when you start, it's starting with the battery, so I think you have a bad connection, check and clean the battery terminals.

Check the mechanism inside the gear lever thumb button in case it has failed.

get it properly diagnosed at a reputable repair shop. does the dash stay lit when ur cranking?(turning the key all the way trying to start it) does the security light stay on or flash? im thinking a security problem. its not reading the key right possibly. not uncommon now for this to happen to newer cars.

if car has been sitting idle for a period of more than 7 days fuel looses its octane strengh/ batterry could be low test it - Make sure timing is accurate and try spray into carbaretor direct before strart with WD 40 or such like product to direct fuel feed to spark 0k

I have a 2001 mazada tribute and had the same problem, replace the lower head gaskets.

I think the warning light is meant to be in the shape of a radiator - check your coolant level - it generally means your coolant is low. The coolant level sensor often fails on Mazda's however, so your 'problem' might actually be a dodgy sensor not a lack of coolant at all.

this may be the engine is turnin in started motor and injection is not taking place in your tribute.
check the injector, fuel line for blockage in line.
may be this wil be the reasons.

suprisingly it could be the TCC Solenoid on ur transmission. it could be locked in a gear and when u go to change the gear it stalls out. sooner or later the clutch in the auto transmission will let go and allow you to move. its a long shot. does this happen after a dead cold start or have u been running the car for a while?
