Can a bad headlight switch cause a headlight not to work on a lexus es300

I have a 1998 GMC Sonoma P/U not a Lexus. Sorry....The Lexus is made by Toyota and my understanding is that if the switch is bad then of course the light won't work. If my tire blows out do you think it can still hold air?

Clean inside headlights

Go to junkyard and pull off 2 "new" ones, or drop the dough for new. Never heard of anyone ever cleaning out the inside of a headlight. I would say it is impossible unless you are a castmember from "Honey, I shrunk the kids!". However, I would say it is even more impossible to get the inside of one dirty as they are sealed and the only hole in one is where the bulb/socket assembly plugs in.

Remove headlight cover

The headlight cover is not really a cover...it is the assembly which needs to be removed completely from the car to access the bulb hole that is the only access to the interior surfaces of the assembly. Lots of screws and awkward positions to get it out. Best bet, leave it alone or pull the bulb socket and use very long q-tips to clean out moisture!

How do i change the driver side headlight bulb on a 2000 Lexus ES300

  • Open the hood of the ES300 and prop it open.

Look at the headlight assembly from the top down. Depending on your model year, there may be a plastic panel covering the top of the headlight assembly. If this is present, remove it by lifting all of the plastic clips around the edges and lifting it off.

  • 3

Locate the three bolts that hold the headlight assembly in place. Two of the bolts are in the left and right rear corners of the assembly, and the third is on the side bordering the outside edge of the car, screwed into the back of the fender panel. Remove all of these bolts with a small adjustable wrench. Though they appear to be designed to be removed with a screwdriver, the way they're arranged makes it almost impossible to remove them with one.

  • 4

Slide the entire headlight assembly forward a few inches so that you can reach the back of it.

  • 5

Unscrew the plastic bulb socket assembly. This is the large, round component located right in the middle of the back of the main assembly. Turn it about a quarter turn to the left and you can pull it away from the main assembly. If you're replacing both the bulb and the main assembly, see the next section on how to replace the bulb, then resume this process

How to replace headlight lamp on 1996 Lexus ES300?

Pop open the hood. Look for the lamp/bulbs you want to replace, just back of the headlight assembly. You will see a connector connection to the bulb. Remove the connector by pressing a small tab and down wards. Hold the bulb socket and twist slowly clockwise (Depends upon how you are facing) Face to the car and hold the bulb and turn right about 1/8th. Bulb will be out. Place new bulb, connect the socket and you are ready to go.
