Check your coolant level. if ok, probably need new thermostat.

The temperature guage on my Honda 2000 keeps going right to the top after about 8 - 10 miles when I am driving at normal speed.

Don't drive the vehicle until you get the vehicle checked. Running a engine that is overheating can do serious damage. By serious I also mean Very expensive!
Did you replace the thermostat in the cooling system when you replaced the coolant.
Try this simple test.
**Note** You need to put your hands near the engine when it is running. BE CAREFUL you do not touch Moving or Hot parts of the engine.
With the engine Cold, open the bonnet and find the very large black hose going to the top corner of the radiator. -Carefully touch the hose. It should be cold. Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes.
-CAREFULLY touch the large hose. It should be starting to get warm. Let it idle for another 5 minutes.
-Again CAREFULLY touch the large hose. It should be HOT to the touch.
If the hose does not heat up the thermostat could be faulty.
-Carefully touch the hose. It should be cold. Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes.

Does anyone know where the sensor is located on the zetec 2.0 engine that regulates the temperature guage?

The sensor you're looking for is called the ECT Sensor(Engine Coolant Temperature). It is located on the left hand side of the engine(left hand is closest to bumper/right hand is closest to firewall) closer to the back(driver side of vehicle).

1988 BMW 318i temperature guage flickers between normal temp. through to max temp. Most of the time the guage is 3/4 to Hot. Main fan seems a little loose when hot - not tightening up. Coolant level OK no...

It could be the impellor wearing out on the water pump, though I have not heard of this issue in your make of car, I have seen it first hand in other makes. The thermostat may not be opening up all the way, flow restriction,. The coolant temperture sensor could be going out, and the gauge in the dash could be going out. You could have flow restrictions else where in the engine. Have you ever had the engine flushed? these are the things that I can think of that would make your engine run hotter than normal.

Temperature gauge does not work. How can I test and repair?

You can test the guage by removing the wire on the engine temp sender and then grounding the wire to a ground. THen turn the ignition to run and the temp guage should go to hot, and when ungrounded the guage will go to cold. The temp sender is a single wire sensor screwed into the intake manifold top left side of engine, with a red/white wire. PLease rate me as this will help me out . Thank you RJ

sounds like a coolant hose has a pin-hole or burst slightly open. pressure test cooling system or if you do not have a tester ----fill system with water and with bonnet open run engine untill it gets hot, builds pressure and starts leaking ,just keep an eye as where it leaks,

Ac not working

1st you must check for correct refrigerant levels in ac system, must be done with a/c guages, you have a pressure switch that senses correct pressure in a/c system if you are low in refrigerant the a/c will not come on. if you have good pressures high side 70-95 low side 70-95 depends on ouitside air temperature, with the engine off then look at the switch in the high pressure line, jeep also has a fuse in the fuse box under the hood and a a/c relay please check those too. I hope this helps. (red is high side hose- small fitting plug , blue is low side- larger fitting If ac is working and compressor is on good pressure ranges from high side the red hose 160 to 230 depending on temperature outside; low side blue hose 27-46 low side depending on outside temperature, Wear glasses to protect your eyes. I hope this helps good luck
