SOURCE: adjust kickdown cable

If it is an overdrive, there isn't a kickdown cable. I would suspect something wrong with the engines output.

How can a kickdown cable be hooked up wrong if its connected to the tranny and the throttle body on a 1992 crown victoria

More likely it is not adjusted properly Kickdown cables are used to control fluid flow in the transmission so they shift correctly If adjusted to tight or to loose it will cause the transmission to not change gears properly or not at all

89 Cherokee kickdown not working

There should be an adjustment on the cable from the throttle body to the trans. If adjustment can be made, shorten it in small increments, unless you find it detached or broken.
