I have a 2008 Saturn outlook sometimes it will say traction control off and then says reduced engine power and it will viberate. You can shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes and start it back up and it runs fine. This is the second time it's done this. First time was about two months ago and it was put in the garage and replaced the ECM/PCM. Any suggestions

If the battery was disconnected, then it is possible that it will need to be re-flashed at the dealer. But have the alternator checked again. It should be reading 13.65 volts,to 14.25 volts, with everything on,high blower, and head lamps,if it is any lower than this, the alternator is defective, now if the battery has a defect in it,it may have caused the alternator to go out, have it checked also, and re charge the battery at a slow rate, such as 2 amps, all night,or longer would be better. The battery will get a deep charge that will hold a lot longer than a quick charge, and is better for the battery.

Hi,

A vehicle may be brought into the dealer for a reduced power message, and DTCs P0120, P0220, P1516, P2101, or P2135.

The Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) / throttle body type trouble codes may be caused by a loose wiring crimp at the throttle body connector, or a broken throttle body circuit.

Complete the current SI diagnostics for any symptoms or trouble codes found. If a intermittent T/P or TAC module type code is occurring complete the inspections below.

Inspect all related throttle body terminals for a loose wiring crimp. The loose crimp may be difficult to find, and the poor connection will be between the terminal and the copper strands of the wire. Wiggle test the individual throttle body circuits to see if the concern can be duplicated.
Inspect the related circuits for broken wires inside the insulation. The outer wire insulation may look fine, but the internal copper strands may be partially broken. Breaks in the wires usually occur within 1 to 4 inches of the throttle body connector. Wiggle testing may also induce a trouble code to set.
On C/K trucks complete SI procedures for voltage drop on grounds G103 and G104. Grounds G103 or G104 may be loose or corroded.
If a terminal crimp or a broken wire has been found, repair or replace only the circuits involved. There is a throttle body pigtail connector available through GMSPO, but installing this pigtail connector may cause other intermittent TAC module/TP codes at a later date. If this pigtail must be used, please follow the SI procedures for Splicing Copper Wire Using Splice Sleeves. (the proper Kent-Moore crimping tool must be used for this repair)

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Please get back to us if you have any further query or else accept the solution.

I have a 2008 Saturn outlook with 2w drive. I recently drove in wet weather a my Stabil Trak and traction control indicators

When the Stabilitrak and Traction Control indicators come on and stay illuminated in your 2008 Saturn Outlook, it typically indicates a problem with the vehicle's stability control system. This system helps maintain control and stability during adverse driving conditions, such as wet or slippery roads. There are several potential causes for these warning lights, and it's essential to address the issue promptly to ensure your vehicle's safety and performance. Here are some common reasons for the warning lights to stay on:
  1. Wheel Speed Sensor Issues: The Stabilitrak and Traction Control systems rely on information from wheel speed sensors to determine if a wheel is slipping or losing traction. If one of these sensors is malfunctioning or dirty, it can trigger the warning lights.
  2. Faulty ABS Module: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module is closely related to the stability control system. If there is a problem with the ABS module, it can affect the functionality of Stabilitrak and Traction Control.
  3. Damaged Wiring: Damage to the wiring that connects the wheel speed sensors to the control module can disrupt the communication and trigger the warning lights.
  4. Malfunctioning Control Module: The control module responsible for the stability control system can develop faults or errors over time.
  5. Brake System Issues: Problems with the vehicle's braking system, including worn brake pads, can sometimes lead to issues with the Stabilitrak system.
  6. Faulty Steering Angle Sensor: The steering angle sensor is part of the stability control system. A malfunction in this sensor can lead to warning lights.
  7. Low Fluid Levels: Low brake fluid levels can trigger the warning lights, as the stability control system may interpret it as a potential issue with the braking system.
To diagnose and address the problem, you should take your Saturn Outlook to a qualified mechanic or a dealership. They can perform a diagnostic scan using specialized equipment to pinpoint the exact issue that is causing the warning lights to stay on. Once the problem is identified, they can recommend the necessary repairs or replacements.
It's important not to ignore these warning lights, as the stability control system is designed to enhance vehicle safety and performance, particularly in adverse driving conditions. Addressing the issue promptly will help ensure the continued safe operation of your vehicle.

I have a 2009 Saturn Aura XE and I want to know where exactly the speed sensors are so I know exactly what they look like so I can order the right parts and then replace them myself.

Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that knows how to test an not guess as to the problem . Having control modules checked for DTC's - diagonstic trouble codes should always be the first step diagnosing modern automobiles . Replacing parts is not the way to try an fix your car. Would hate for you to replace a part an not have it fix the vehicle . Engine power reduced is associated with the electronic throttle control , no speed sensor .
ENGINE POWER REDUCED
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for 3.6L engine or Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System Description for the 2.4L engine

The engine control module (ECM) is the control center for the throttle actuator control (TAC) system. The ECM determines the driver's intent based on input form the accelerator pedal position sensors, then calculates the appropriate throttle response based on the throttle position sensors. The ECM achieves throttle positioning by providing a pulse width modulated voltage to the throttle actuator motor. The throttle blade is spring loaded in both directions, and the default position is slightly open.

Reduced power mode will cause traction control system to be shut off turning on the light . Nothing wrong with traction control.
So do yourself a favor an take it to a GM dealer or someother qualified repair shop .

Malibu hybird 2008 /service traction /engine power reduced

Your best bet would be to take it to a qualified repair shop. Special tool's and knowledge are needed . Scan tools , electrical diagnostic , service information . Your vehicle has a bunch of computers (control modules) C.A.N. cantroller area network serial data communication networks . Hi speed , med. speed , low speed . The power steering is electronic ,computer controlled , sensors on the steering shaft .With those light's lit , DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored etc... Plus there is a real chance of being electrocuted. High voltage !

Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

Hello and welcome. the engine reduce power waraning is the key to the other problems. this is normally a problem with the electronic throttle system. the engine control module disables the traction control system when it detects a engine problem, in your case a problem with the electronic throttle system. you shouldnt drive with this concern. this is normally covered under the vehicles 100,000 mile warranty. you need to conteact your nearest dealer for help

Electronic Stability Control

Try disconnecting the positive cable from the battery for several minuets..
That will re-set everything..

If that does not work - you really should have the dealer check it out before the warranty expires..

If you go unplugging things - you risk voiding your warranty..

Hope this helps !!
