If the engine is overheating, that's why the light is on. Its a P0271 code I beleive. Its a "OVERHEATING" code.Dont drive the car. You are loosing coolant or its out of coolant, check the coolant level in the overflow bottle. We have seen some headgasket issues on that model car. I would remove the spark plugs and look into the cylinder for any signs of coolant on top of the pistons. Let me know what you find.

2000 2.4l. Why doesn't it turn over?

An engine is unlikely to start if the cranking speed is low. If the engine is cranking at all it is unlikely the solenoid is faulty, however when a starter motor has an internal fault that causes it to attempt to consume more current than is available they have been known to buzz or hum while turning abnormally slow...

Noise comong from engine hi temp low oil on dash 2003 ford expedition

I would seem that for some reason you have no oil pressure. Which would cause the low oil light and the high temp indicator to activate. Does the engine have the correct amount of engine oil in it?

2002 tundra humming noise from front end while parked

That is your electric fan. Normal, especially in the summertime. Just make sure that you have enough coolant in your radiator, and that your engine temperature isn't abnormally high.

My 2001 toyota tundra is backfiring through the motor. I recently had some freezing problems, and now i cant get it to start and backefires through motor.

car and it spins over but fails to start, there are three fundamental systems that must work properly and should be checked. The fuel and air management is one. Too much or too little of either one of these and the engine will not start. Second is the ignition system. Not only is a spark required to ignite the fuel, it must be delivered on time and in the right place. Last is the engine integrity. It must compress the fuel and air, contain the explosion upon ignition and convert heat energy to mechanical energy to propel the vehicle. A breakdown in any of the three will prevent the engine from starting.
  • Crank the car. Listen to the engine. An experienced driver should depend on his ears and know the sound of the engine. If as it cranks the sounds are abnormal, this is a strong indication of a mechanical failure. Each cylinder, when strong and working well, compresses the fuel and air in proper sequence. When this fails due to a timing belt or head gasket problem, everything sounds different. If the engine sounds entirely different while cranking, mechanical repairs are necessary.
  • 2 Install a fuel pressure gauge. If the engine sounds as it normally does install the gauge, turn the key on and watch the pressure indicator. It should read as high as 50 psi. Refer to the manufacturer's service manual for specifications and fuel pressure test procedures. Some have fuel pressure specs as low as 35 psi. If there is no reading, the fuel pump is in doubt. Turn the key off, and the on again, and listen for a brief, faint hum in the fuel tank. The pump is designed to run, then shut off if the vehicle does not start. If there is no fuel pressure and no hum, the fuel pump or pump circuit has malfunctioned. Make sure there is fuel in the tank.
  • 3 Test the ignition system. Remove a conveniently located spark plug wire from a spark plug and install a spark tester. This is a spark plug with an alligator-clip attached. Clip the tester to the engine. This completes the circuit so the spark can jump across the plug electrode. Make sure the clip is attached to bare metal for a good ground. Have an assistant crank the vehicle and watch for a bright spark. If there is none, the ignition system must be repaired.

I have 200 Toyota Avalon, Recently I change a transition fluid , it is a little bit over on the stick , Know when i go up on the hill it slow down , what could be the reason

The question is, Does the engine maintain it's rpm's or does the engine actually slow down. If the motor keeps the same rpm while going up the hill but the car slows down then that indicates that the trans is slipping. If the engine slows down at an abnormal rate that could be a compression problem due to high milage

Yellow engine light went on. What does this mean?

    Hi there,

The yellow/orange Engine Check Light is an indicator that your vehicle's computer has detected an abnormality within the engine's electronics or emission system.

Sometimes it can be a one-off abnormality, which eventually rectifies itself within 40 drive cycles.

However, if the Engine light remains lit, then this is an indication of something more concerning (but not necessarily serious).

If it does remain lit when driving, then you should have your local Jaguar service agent scan the computer for "trouble codes", which will quickly identify the component and/or location of the problem.

    Hope this helps...

I have 8000 miles on my Tucson check engine light came on at start up this morning...gas cap is tight...no problems?????

there are over 200 reasons for the check engine light to come on, the gas tank cap is just one of them, this light and the problem that turned it on are most likely covered under the federal emission warranty, contact the dealer. see trouble code list below for some of the probelems that cause a check enghine light.

1988 Dodge Aries K 2.5L Engine Trouble and codes

    CODE 14
Trouble Code 14 indicates that the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) is reporting abnormally high readings. CTS is used to control fuel mixture, timing, idle speed, TCC and EGR operations among others. The thermistor used has a low resistance when hot, rising as the coolant cools. This error then, indicates a very low resistance in the CTS circuit.
    CODE 15
Trouble Code 15 indicates that the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) is reporting abnormally low readings. CTS is used to control fuel mixture, timing, idle speed, TCC and EGR operation, among others. The thermistor used has a high resistance when cold, lowering as the coolant warms. This error then, indicates a very high resistance in the CTS circuit.
    CODE 33
Trouble Code 33 indicates that the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is reporting more air is entering the engine than makes sense based on RPM and TPS. The MAF sensor produces a frequency output; around 30 Hz at idle to 150 Hz under acceleration. The frequency varies proportionally to airflow. The ECM monitors the frequency and thus determines airflow into the engine. Typical idle MAF is 5 to 7 grams per second.
