Flashing airbag warning light

My dashboard warning light for the airbag on my 1992 Mazda Miata has been flashing for several years and having just found your site, I thought I would see if someone might know how to easily correct or disconnect the light. It has been flashing for so long that I hardly notice it anymore.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
This is a common problem. I have a similar issue with my 92 Miata. I currently have a 10 code problem with my airbag.
You can see the codes and what they mean at:
http://www.miata.net/garage/airbag_blink.html

Hope that helps.

Dan

I'm working on my Mazda Miata and didn't realize I had the fuse box to the left under the hood unplugged and tried to start the car. As a result the car will not start and I'm not sure where to start.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Yes, you are correct, disconnecting the fuse box has broken the pairing between the key and the immobilizer system. Did you remove the main connection plugs to the fuse box? My thought is that those connectors have never been removed since the car was built and breaking a remaking the connection, you might have some connections that as not as good as they should be. Pull the connectors again and give them a good spray with electrical contact cleaner (that is NOT WD40). Then reconnect.

There is various ideas on resetting the Immobilizer here.

I have a 2004 Mazda Miata. A red car shaped indicator started flashing on and off. It is just above the temperature gauge. Do you know what it is?

If you have a manual, it will tell you. I will give you a site that has the icons on it. There are several red cars so check it so you can see if one is the one you are seeing. http://www.mazdaoflodi.com/blog/what-do-mazda-dashboard-warning-lights-mean

1993 air bag warning light flashes 10 times, stops, then repeats over and over

10 blinks is a faulty diagnostic module. If available at the dealer it will be hundreds of dollars. You do see these at salvage yards and on eBay but remember you're purchasing the same 25 year old part that you had failed so make sure you can return the item if it doesn't work. Airbag Blink Codes

My airbag sensor light keeps flashing on why is this, it flashes twice quickly then repeats this again approx 6 seconds later

It is giving you a fault code ( most likely fault #2 ) that your Mazda dealer will have a reference sheet for and be able to tell you over the phone.

Airbag warning lights flashing on dashboard of mazda premacy 52 reg can I reset to clear these lights myself?

there are a quite a few problems associated with the airbag light flashing. The light will flash in long and short frequencies, this is a diagnostic code, e.g. two long flashes followed by six short flashes equals code 26, which is clockspring. Other codes are: 46 and 47 connector under seat, 3 power supply etc.

Airbag light

This is either a problem with one or both of your airbags or the airbag connector located at the back of the glovebox has been disconnected for some reason. (ie. to prevent airbag opening when installing baby seat) (1999 miata does not have a baby seat airbag disabling sensor).

You should get your car inspected at your local mazda service to check if this is a wiring (plug disconnected) issue or one of your airbags is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Flashing airbag light could indicate that either one of the airbags or both have a problem. Disconnecting the passenger's airbag has the same effect.

Warning! Do NOT attempt to do any kind of airbag/airbag wiring related repair yourself. Airbag problems should be addressed ONLY by certified technicians at your local Mazda service. (Airbag fixing requires for example that the car battery is disconnected, you MUST NOT attempt anything with the car battery connected).

Hope this helps.
