1990 Mazda Miata, sometimes heater fan and wipers fail to work at the same time, why is this

Sounds like a connection issue, either with the positive power supply or the negative ground. Look for corrosion at the distribution center and verify the grounds are clean and tight.

1993 air bag warning light flashes 10 times, stops, then repeats over and over

10 blinks is a faulty diagnostic module. If available at the dealer it will be hundreds of dollars. You do see these at salvage yards and on eBay but remember you're purchasing the same 25 year old part that you had failed so make sure you can return the item if it doesn't work. Airbag Blink Codes

My 90 MX 5 has a slow drain on the battery. Battery is new the car starts if I drive it every day or so but if it sits for a week the battery is dead. Any ideas on what could be draining the battery?

Hi, mechanics are good at fixing mechanical bits, you need the services of a proficientauto electrician. Check around for recommendations. I used to be a mechanic of sorts, can do bodywork but don't know much about electrics. Most garages employ guys who are okay in one area but are not expert in others. Good Luck

What are the advantages and disadvantages of

A slightly larger wheel and lower tire will help the car to "turn in" a little better and be more responsive but make the ride quality a little harsher. A much larger wheel with very low profile tires will completely ruin the way the car drives and feels on the road but may make the car more appealing to the younger crowd and also have the effect of making its owner think he is going to get laid more.

1990 mx5 mazda head lamps go up and down on own .

The headlights moving up and down on their own is almost always related to dirty grounds on the circuit - specifically at a multi-pin connector located just under the brake booster. It's a white flat plastic rectangle with about 7 leads running into it and attached with a machine screw into the shelf area below the booster. Water can collect there causing corrosion. The connector can be opened up and the contacts cleaned. There's a good video on cleaning electrical connectors on YouTube

Interior light buzzer won't stop 1990 mazda miata

Actually, it's just an simple buzzer associated with the seatbelt circuit and doors. Many of us with Miata's have just removed it as it's easy to do. It's located under the dash on the driver's side and easy to remove
  • put the key in the ignition and open the door
  • reach up under the dash to the left of the steering wheel and grab small rectangular plastic boxes until you feel the one that buzzing and vibrating
  • Now feel around for the latch that holds it into place - it's a squeeze-to-release type
  • Open the latch and pull off the wiring harness
  • Use a twist tie or some electrical tape to tape the wire harness to something so it doesn't bounce around.
Done!

Miata mx5 horn does not work

The fuse is the most likely problem. The fuse for the horn is the same as for the stop lights. 15 amp fuse located in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. If it's blown and it fails again once you replace it, the horn is bad.

Replace clutch fluid

The best way is to replace all the fluid including the fluid in the line to the slave. Here's how I do it.
  • safely raise the front of the car enough to get to the clutch slave cylinder
  • attach a piece of hose to the bleed nipple and run into a container
  • open the bleed nipple
  • slowly depress clutch pedal. Repeat until the fluid level in the reservoir is down below half
  • at this point, top up the reservoir with new fluid
  • repeat the above process until you observe clean fluid running out of the drain tube.
  • Tighten the drain nipple and verify that the clutch is working properly and there is no air in the system.
