Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Resistance (Cold) Between Terminals and 2.......185-275 ohms
Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Resistance (Hot) Between Termuinals 1 and 2 .........240-325 ohms
I am quoting this from the 1996 S Platform GMP/96-S-1 book 1 of 2 Geo Prizm Service Manual copyright 1995 General Motors Corporation
(prizm=toyota)he wants the output that is the coil ohms, the coil ohms test only tells you if the coil is dead open. not if it generate a true pulse. ( only a scope works here, and DTC 0340) the ckp on most this era cars is a very small signal...b 1.6 L 4A-FE (L01) I4 1.8 L 7A-FE (LV6) I4 notice the toyota codes there? i looked both and they are both coil type sensor not HALL. crank the enigne over with the OBD2 (any) scan tool plugged in, for 5 seconds cranking and see if you get 340s,335,336 DTCs, bingo, huh? IT will tell you what sensor is bad, why guess? now i will show way 2, a scope.
there is the official toyata advance data. for techs with scopes.
the ECU/PCM is fully capable of tell you which sensor is bad. even 1 pulse in 10 or so. why not scan the ECU?
its a year, old but someoine answered, so i did my HoW to for these 4a/7a engines

Its a 5v square wave.
you can see that at alldata dot com.
the 1996 will throw a DTC for CMP , DID IT?
if engine is dead, the DTC shows up cranking,
with a code or RPM dead.
In USA< can speak for Canada, where are you, uSA or canada.
