94 geo prism

I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My brother ( a mechanic) buys when he can't fix some technical issue with the manual at www.reliable-store.com . A lot of mechanics actually do this. Website is very good for this. Must try it !!

Geo prizm starts but wants to stall while driving

If it's not idling a bit higher at start-up, the computer has not placed it in cold start mode. Meaning the temperature sending unit/sensor is malfunctioning. Until it warms up, you'll get no performance, rain or shine. Have this temp sensor checked for operation. It may even be just disconnected from the wire.

1994 Geo Prizm 1.6L engine. When it is hot outside

Have your temperature sending unit tested for proper activation. Computer will tell the engine to go into cold start mode when cold. If the temp sending unit is faulty, it will not come out of cold start mode and is still dumping excess fuel into the engine causing it to flood with fuel and causing an overly rich condition and it just won't run right like that.

We just bought a 94 geo prizm a fuse was missing

The fuse was probably removed purposely due to an electrical short in either the air bag system or alarm system. Have it checked professionally. U will have a dangerous air bag on your hands if u leave it be. Speak to the seller 1st, if possible. Maybe they can compensate u.

Last week my check engine light came on. Drove to

From a quick web search, code P0014 supposedly indicates a problem with the timing advance. I would check that the you have the base timing set correctly. The computer has to be in diagnostic mode when you check it, which requires putting a jumper across two wires at the diagnostic plug. Refer to a repair manual for directions on how to do this for your vehicle. The base timing should be 5 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) for cylinder 1 at sea level. Add 1 degree BTDC for each 1000 feet above sea level (if you're 3000 feet above sea level, base timing setting should be 8 degrees BTDC).

1994 prizm speedometer eratic tried 3 used clusters and replaced sensor New schematic shows ckt runs through ECM is this a possibility

automatic or stick shift car??????? prizm = toyota corolla, (vast parts to be had and books on same) 1994 what are the symptoms, not guessing I need all facts on symptoms. lets see. 1.6L engine or 1.8L , sorry they are not the SAME> so what engine is there? fuses test good? car drives perfectly, all other electrics run ok , all lighting ok. bad cluster , well what is bad, tacho, speedo, odometer, gauges, warning lamps. what? say all things in the cluster that work and not work. then and only then can any one give good advice. ill run with only speedo needle bounces, most 90s cars love to do that, its a fact. (high miles) if need speedo and dead odometer that is unique. that is correct more modern cars, all deleted that speedo cable long long ago and is now a 10cent wire from cluster to ECU. as did yours. since the ECU knows speed already why not let it do the job for free. and did. end history class but, the odd duck cars exist. first thing to do is learn that the cars ECU has flash codes you jumper 2 pins on a DLC, and the ECU flashes the CEL lamp with codes, if the code for VSS is set BINGO transmission VSS is dead, or erratic. code 42 tells you VSS is bad. does it flash 42? The ECU uses speed, to calculate load and fuel better , knowing this facts. but in your case its 1/2 true, the odd duck, the toyota way in 1994 is to have the VSS sensor drive the cluster and the cluster speed drives the ECU. (have book in hand from mitchells online, so can you of you look) V3 is bad, (or as in all electrics, (laws) wires./loose/bad, there. VSS means veh. speed sensor my guess is you will ask where is it, like all here do not wanting to pop 15bucks to read at mitchels. At 55 mph:= 48 Hz ( the signal speed on it) square wave. where it is depends on auto or stickshift but its FWD and this sensor in on the side with axle ring gear i guess. the 3 wire sensor with R-Y, R-G and R-L color wires is a BINGO. vss-5okvwe4z4w3ktgpaujwqctz2-1-0.jpg

How do you adjust a 94 geo prizm headlights

the service manual covers that how , using a screww (speed right a mechine screww is profane wow!!!!) you never said, up ,down, left or right did you know, newer cars the L/R can not be set? that is so shade tree mech dont blind me. up and down are settable. only on most modern cars usa. other countries have there own laws. for example Canada, your laws on lighting are not ours. some have composite head lamps, no photos of yours and screws are diffr, locations. the manual shows hot set car in front of a wall. distance, level and then shows you there to put the beam. in all cars books in print, all have this. the book, some chock, and a screwdriver. lucky you, the TOyota 94 corolla book is same as is car why not post what you see wrong first. was car in a collision? was car jacked up or lowered by kid owners. non composite lamps the corolla shows 2 screws, one for up /down , seen top center and left right. seen left on RH side and seen right on LH side this is the 6x12' wall pattern im not posting all steps, just this. you can rent the book online just like we must do. there are 4 patterns, 2high 2 low, RTM read the shop manual or do like 99.9% do get the car serviced. 26344134-zsgrsggtcrrlk5fqbe1zb3q1-2-0.jpg

I have a 1994 geo prism I replaced the starter cause it was making a clicking noise and it's still clicking. The clicking is coming from the new starter I replaced. Please help

Turn the key to run, but don't start the engine. If the clicking continues, unhook the small wire from the starter. If the clicking stops, you have a short causing power to pulse to the starter control wire, possible bad ignition switch.

Instrument lights on my 1991 GEO prizm do not light up

Try checking fuses first and if this is good, check harness to switch that turns them on. If you have power, might be a bad switch. If you have a wiring diagram for the switch and dashboard, try to fun power directly to the circuit that the lights are on. If they come on, your switch is bad or you have an open wire in the circuit.

Windshield wiper wont turned off

old post day, so other can learn. stuck on you mean but NOT KEY OFF right? the fastback has rear wiper , ill pretend not that... front wiper stuck on, (most times that is a bad wiper motor the gear box has a bad, SUSTAIN contact switch. but here, on this car, no computers, no magic logic modules its just a classic wiper and switch. the motor has 1,2,3,5,6 wire pins. (not sure why they skipped 4) 1 is ground skip that. key on , bat goes hot ,12v, if the switch on the lower left is bad (shorted) this is the SUSTAIN switch. pin 3 wiper off is 0v. if pin 3 is 12vdc wiper off(again key on) then the switch lower left is shorted inside the gear box. seen vast like this on man cars. the main switch not seen here can fail too, but but that will cuase 12v to be on pin 2 or 3 failed, to find if main switch is bad one can only do continuty tests on that switch, because the secret jumper seen below, when failing there, makes it seem like the main switch is bad but is not, one can pull the connector and ohm out 3 to 6 , if 0 ohms its a bad gear box, (er, motor assembly) the red upside U below is the main switch in OFF, it jump 3 to 5. like this. and no power to it from main switch. 23459657-flsdwf0rx41rbdaez4cmhnol-2-0.jpg that is the long story on old corolla;s

1994 geo prizm flush coolant

how to flush. is this a verb question or a product? noun? how to , or asking where to buy flush kit and flushing compounds. the only new compounds are jug of orange oil, (safe for the environment all the other ones are off the market ) take it to a shop with flash the system. end short story. LONG: DIY, good luck chuck. the coolant is toxic as heck, kills people pets, etc. and must be kept out of sewers and storm drains, for sure. unless eating toxic fish is ok>? It can be done, kinda clean, but is super hard at home. drain rad, drain block , drain both and catch it all and take it the county reclaim, (for toxics) use a large catch pan, to do that. now flush it with water hose. the book says back flush all hoses. and the RAD. pull all major hoses. this is what is done, for 100 years now. up to NOW (near) black flush block and heater core and RAD. now lets ask why do this at all? if not UGLY. first off if you keep the system serviced, it will never need a flush. it will not go to like this., http://www.jeepdied.com/overheated/sludge2.jpg not only that, in the USA we took out the sulfur in fuel. doing that prevents the coolant from ACID attack. so the coolant never goes ACID now, like 20 years ago. so no more 2 year, service, due to that FACT. it's a 5 year service and cap off shows coolant looks great. on old cars, anything is possible and flushes must be done, to cure the UGLY ONEs. seen in the photo above. end old post answer.
