I need to make the carbon cleaning on my GDI Mitsubishi

Haw can I make it ? Where do I find the spot with carbon which has to be removed and what solvent should I use?

Hi, 2003 Mitsubishi pajero 3.5 V6 GDI, the car starts and runs fine under 3000RPM as soon as you get to 3000RPM the car shudders and struggles to change gears. (A/T) flat surface it battles to.

Check to see if #1 &4 use a common coil pack. If so, = likely culprit.

I have a mitsubishi lancer cedia model 2000 frequent stall when driving i switch it off and on again in the ignition and come to live again for a few miles and does the same again what could be the cause

If you have the GDI model,they were designed to run on very lean air/fuel ratio.
Once the mileage is up a bit a lot of problems can be traced back to a high carbon build up in the intake manifold.

How many different problems can the p0401 code be on a 2001 mitsubishi mirage 1.8 litre

In short,it's all cause by carbon built up.

EGR valve can fail after 100,000 miles.

vacuum leaks on intake manifold,

the air tube between the air filter.

intake manifold vacuum hose.

Also remove carbon built up behind the EGR valve and the EGR passage tube.

Vacuum leak WILL offset the intended 14.7 to 1 air fuel ratio.

More un-metered air (leaks) will lean out the fuel mixture.

Use small amount of Berryman carb clearer at potential air leak area will help you identify trouble spot.

At idle,just spray and listen for the RPM surge.

The in-rush of carb clearer will increase the RPM on the motor.

Record the problem spot(s) and address it later.

EGR carbon built up require 2+ hours to clean from start to finish.

You will need a new EGR base gasket before your start.

Locate and remove the EGR valve after the vehicle is cool down.

Carefully record the connector and vacuum line (for older vehicle) location by drawing an easily to follow diagram.

Remove the EGR valve.

Inspect the location of the carbon built-up inside the valve and the EGR passage tube.

SOAK these areas with WD-40 spary.

You will need a small screwdriver,cloth hanger and lot of newspaper and time to get this cleaning done right.

RE-SOAK the carbon and let it sit for over-night will also help.

One the last round,pass a shop vacuum of the EGR valve and the passage pipe.

Install the new EGR gasket and connectors.

Allow the vehicle to warm up outdoor to burn up any remaining WD-40.


Take it for a test drive.

Check engine light come on and the idle is real low

unsure which engine model you have. is a real common problem here with gdi v6 models,cleaning air mass meter(usually in ducted pipe connected to air filter) and throttle body with bottle brush and good carbon removing solvents restores the idle speed and ecl should go out. engine may be covered by plastic cover,this removes easily 4-6 bolts and allows access to throttle body failing that low idle could be limp mode.it triggers when either a major sensor faults or more that 3-4.the ecu will need to be checked for fault codes and then a plan of repair will be more effective

2003 Lancer rough ildle

ts runing high 2300 check the vacuum with a gauge and unplug egr lines ..egr could be plugged ..oxy sensor could be open loop running rich...tps ar air flow meter ...
