If everything is working fine, then you need to decide if it is worth the time and expense of repairing the circuit that leaves the light on when it should be off. I would leave it alone and if the lamp bothers you that much you can remove it or cover it with a piece of black tape.
It sounds like the engine coolant thermostat might be stuck in the open position, if your heat gauge is reading cold that is likely the problem...You should be able to find a you tube video about changing the thermostat, it's fairly easy.
It sounds like you either have bad controls or stuck dampers in your vents. The stuck dampers are usually caused by plant debris getting in to the air system.
when you start the car and let it warm up, does it reach normal operating temp.? Does the needle stay in the middle? If not, it's time to replace the thermostat. If it's ok, then your blend door is stuck or broken and may need replacement or repair. when you move the control to hot or cold, the blend door opens accordingly allowing cold hor hot air in.
none of the above, the vent door is stuck inthe open position most probable cause is vacum leak look closer to your fire wall and you will see a very thin vacum hose going into the vehice which seems to be unpluged!!
