You need to pump the hydraulics manually, to do this first sit on boot and press boot button for a few seconds without allowing the boot to open. Partially allow boot to open, manually push boot all the way open and closed a dozen or so times to manually pump hydraulics. I had same prob, this sounds extreme but does work and wont cost you a penny.

I managed to sort the problem, turns out there's a shear pin. I found this pin sitting in the bag in the back (the one the roof folds into) Now i just have to replace that and hopefully it should work

SOURCE: my 1999 slk's roof wont go down it gets as far as

This symptom almost always points to a mechanical issue, not an electrical one. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to be lubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions and photos:

Sticking joints are the most common culprit to intermittent raising and lowering problems. Once those have been lubricated and that has been checked off the list, then consider looking into electrical issues.

The moisture from the rain may be helping to lubricate these joints and that might be why it works fine in the rain...

Tigra roof and boot problem

Don't know these cars, but I wonder if there's a safety switch that might have been triggered? Apparently, if you hold the boot shut whilst pressing the boot open button for a few seconds, the system will reset itself. Not tried, so can't verify....

Other than that, have you put a Vx code reader on it to get codes out from the roof module? For more details RV Roof Repair Leaks Repair

97 Boxster: Both windows go down a quarter on roof retraction which is normal but then keep going into totally open position then won't go back up. If roof is closed and opened a few times sometimes...

I doubt the roof switch has any influence over this other than telling the brain the roof is being opened. The brain will then tell the windows go down and presumably will tell them to stop after a predetermined time - unless there is a facility built into each window mechanism. Unlikely as both windows are affected.

The fact a fault exists that cause the windows to go right down might simply confuse the system enough to go on strike or what is effectively two problems might really be just one.

In order to discover why things are going wrong a thorough understanding of how the system works is needed but even that knowledge will be of limited use without the laptop and dedicated software and the necessary experience to decipher the results and to adjust, repair or reset the system.

Your car is more computer on wheels than simple car. When a computer does strange things it is because it is receiving the wrong information, because it is unable to execute it's commands, because the software is corrupted or electronic problems within itself.

My boot only opens partly, and i have no elec going to the windows?

We had this problem also - we discovered it was one of the relays operating the roof mechanism. When this was replaced and the system rebooted it worked fine. Has anyone else had problems with the boot button working correctly and causing issues with putting the roof down?

Could you tell me if my mini one convertible has a fuse box that can stop my roof retracting fully it will retract as far back as a sun roof and the other buttons lower the back windows but it will not...

If it open's. but not all the way, then the fuse is good, no other fuse to open all the way, same fuse, the problem is with the retracting assembly, will have to take it in for service.

My slk 2000 roof has just stopped working. It wont go down at al

Sounds like maybe some pin switches for interlocks have gone bad. Open your trunk and look for the rubber booted switches and try holding them or shorting them, if you make the top move it shows you which ones are bad.
