I have a 2005 hyundai accent manual trans, today during driving the clutch became hard to press, then worked fine. when i was leaving work the clutch became very hard to press and the car would not shift into or out of gear unless the car was off, otherwise there was a horrible grinding noise.

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has
requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine
lamp.
P0734 basically indicates that your transmission is slipping.
You need to take this car to an authorized repair center for hyundai cars. Replacing the filter and fluid on the transmission might save this transmission but I would be willing to bet that a total transmission rebuild is in order.
Good Luck

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
In a manual 2001 Hyundai Accent, the clutch cable could be adjusted. The adjustment point is on the cable 'pad' where it enters the firewall in the engine compartment.
To adjust, the slack or free play must be decreased. This is done by turning the adjusting nut clockwise. Check back by pressing on the clutch pedal to your preference.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

on most cars when u step on the brake pedal youll hear a "click" near the center console which is the shift solenoid releasing the "lock" on the floor shifter allowing the shifter to come out of park.check to make sure all the fuses are good and check the brake lite switch(es) and wiringfrom brake lite switch to shifter solenoid.a wiring diagram always helps.

Hi
Well two of the tranny codes ; P0734 and PO732 indicate gear 2,3,4 ratio incorrect. This can be caused by poor readings at the input and output speed sensors or pulse generators. The P1709 code is in reference to the kickdown servo switch.
Replacing the pulse generator set and TCM reprogramming( as per TSB) may solve your problem, otherwise you have a major component failure in the transmission unit. I would get some line pressures at the transmission checked first.
Sounds like the transmission is in fail safe mode, this happens when there is a transmission fault, you only have two gears 2nd and reverse.
Hope this helps - Steve

Hi, ive had same problem, and found to be a transmision sensor.. ( pulse generator sensor) u can find it at a dealership for less than 80 dlls. it can be easly replace by anyone its : a 1 plug conector wire that divides into 2 sensors like a ( Y ) ull find it under the air filter right on top of the transmission just follow the wire and ull find the second sensor under the transmision, once replaced, i let the key to on position for 15 min to reset the computer ,and ur good to go..car runs like new again..hope this helps ...
