I have a 1995 Eagle Summit 2.4 lt SOHC, the serpentine belt tore and came off, when looking under the hood there was a little water that had sprayed under the hood, also a large piece of rubber had broke off. I found the place where it had broken and it is a part on the drivers side on the inside of the wheel well by the belts. I drove it to our local auto zone and drove it home. Didn't over heat, only thing that was wrong was the power steering was gone, and a few dash lights came on that i've never seen. The lights were the brake light, a light that looked like a house with columns, and the battery light. I've had friends tell me, if the serpentine belt broke I'll have to replace the water pump too. I am not sure what to do.
The battery light and brake light are on because the belt isn't turning the alternator. The house with columns means it is low on antifreeze. You need to put the belt back on an check for antifreeze leaks. I would say you waterpump likely locked up and roasted the belt and that is where the antifreeze is leaking also.
