Serpentine belt broke and i think the water pump is bad

I have a 1995 Eagle Summit 2.4 lt SOHC, the serpentine belt tore and came off, when looking under the hood there was a little water that had sprayed under the hood, also a large piece of rubber had broke off. I found the place where it had broken and it is a part on the drivers side on the inside of the wheel well by the belts. I drove it to our local auto zone and drove it home. Didn't over heat, only thing that was wrong was the power steering was gone, and a few dash lights came on that i've never seen. The lights were the brake light, a light that looked like a house with columns, and the battery light. I've had friends tell me, if the serpentine belt broke I'll have to replace the water pump too. I am not sure what to do.

Just wondering, if i put the belt on and start the engine for leaks, will that hurt the engine? I was also wondering if it is the water pump do u know if my make/model water pump is driven by the timing belt?

The battery light and brake light are on because the belt isn't turning the alternator. The house with columns means it is low on antifreeze. You need to put the belt back on an check for antifreeze leaks. I would say you waterpump likely locked up and roasted the belt and that is where the antifreeze is leaking also.

I think the waterpump is ran on the alternator belt. But yea, put the belt on and see what happens. See if any pulleys are locked or wobbly. It isn't going to hurt it.

    O.K. good luck.

WHAT IS THE 93 EAGLE SUMMIT BELT ROUTING DIAGRAM ORDER?

Make sure the timing marks are aligned, or the system has not been disturbed (if that's the way you fly). Starting at the crank, work counter-clockwise keeping tension on the belt. So, crank to oil pump, around idler pulley, around camshaft, and behind the tensioner arm/pulley. NOTE: this is for the 2.4l SOHC 4G64 engine

1995 Eagle Summit AWD cranks but won't start...battery, fuel pump, spark plugs replaced ...why? Is the problem the multiport fuel injector relay? Where is this relay located?

Sounds like a timing belt has snapped. If it is an interference engine, the engine could be ruined (pistons hit the valves and bend them). Check gates belts to see if it is an interference engine. Belts normally snap at 80,000 to 120,000 miles.

The serpentine belt broke on our 1995 Eagle Summit AWD. We are trying to replace it, but are not sure how to loosen the alternator so that it will pivot forward and we can put the belt on the alternator...

Loosen the pivot bolt on bottom of alternator, tensioner slide bolt on pulley side of alternator, then back off the tensioner (which is the long bolt).

95 Summit 1.5L Mitsubishi engine miss /lack of power

Somewhere along the the line you may have a fuel blockage or a good dose of water in your fuel tank.Check the water in tank 1st.Add 1 litre of metholated spirits to every 20 litres of fuel. This will allow the water to break down and be burnt through the motor over time.Do this twice. If this does not work, there may be a glob of **** in the fuel tank that blocks the pickup. If this is the problem, the tank needs to be taken out and cleaned.I hope this is a start to get you back on the road.

Setting timing belt

I some a few used factory manuals for 1995 Eagle Colt & Summit for about $10.00 + shipping on ebay motors. 2 volume set. They should be able to guide you through the timing belt procedure. You can check your local library as well.
