The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exceptions to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

SOURCE: toyota sienna interior lights not working

The problem is in the sunvisor light. You will have to take the light assembly off and you will find wires have become disconnected.

SOURCE: the sliding door on my 2004 toyota sienna won't close

Try this.....Find the latch on the door, stick your finger in the hole, lift up and pull the door handle at the same time, the inside latch mechanism should go up, then try the door again. It would be nice if that's all it was huh? Sometimes they stick when they get too cold. If this works for you....spray it with some WD-40 or graphite. Hope this worked for you. Cheaper than the 2000.00 motor!

Have a Year 2000 Toyota Sienna. Engine won't be started after 3 misfires at 1, 3, and 6. Need help to find a solution. Thanks.

Here are a couple of suggestions if it ran before this problem.Check to make sure that your getting spark to those cylinders. If your getting spark then the next would be have the camshaft and crankshaft sensors tested to make sure that they are operating properly.Since there electrical they should be tested by a local service station since the electrical values are different for each vehicle. If they are operating ok then I would have your injector system balance tested for proper operation.
