SOURCE: why does my 1997 dodge dakota's headlights flicker on and off.

my 99 dakota has gone thru 3 switches. I have found that if they do it now ---i take off the instrument guard ---no screws ---
unscrew the headlamp switch ----and spray all movable parts with wd-40 it fixes it for about 3 months. my theory is the switch gets wet from AC condensation and builds up a film that the switch arm just rides on. hope this helps.

SOURCE: how to change head lamp bulbs on a 2007 Dodge

Check your owner's manual. To replace headlight bulbs you open the hood and then behind the headlights there is a piece that either twists off or pops off. It will have the headlight wires running thru or under it. Pop or twist this off and you should see the back of the headlight bulb. Pull the bulb out. Slide the old bulb off the connector and being carefull not to touch the glass part of the new bulb (use a clean rag to hold it) as it will hasten the new bulb in burning out if you get grease or oil from your hand on it, stick the new bulb into the connector and repeat the process to install

How do you remove the headlight light assymbly to replace the headights, on a 1997 dodge dakota?

Just checking but are you sure that the bulb inside theheadlight doesn't twist and pull out for easy replacement. New models have changed to this method and you may want to double check that before replacing the whole assembly. It comes out of the headlight like a brake light bulb. let me now if i saved you a buck, Raz

How do I change out the headlight in my 2002 dodge dakota?

open the hood and look at the back of the headlight you will see a large plastic circle with a couple of wires coming out of it turn it counter clock wise and gently pull out wards away from the back of the headlight housing the wires will still be attached to the bulb pullout no the bulb it should come right with just a little wiggle then unplug the bulb by removing the connector, then just reverse the process to install the new bulb, just be sure you dont touch the very end(the painted glass end) of the new bulb oil from your fingers can cause it to burn out when it gets hot for the first time.

How do you get in to change the headlight bulb on the 2004 Dodge Dakota

Remove the single torx screw holding the parking lamp assembly to the headlamp assembly. Remove the parking lamp bulb and sockets from the main assembly and set aside. Remove the three bolts holding the headlamp assembly. Pull the headlamp assembly forward off of the alignment pin and disconnect the harness from the back of the bulbs. Turn the bulb holder and pull the bulb out. Replace in reverse. Total replacement should take 15 minutes. Gregg

Thanks for the tips Gregg! Indeed, don't work anywhere but in front of the grill. Notes from my adventure:
You'll need a t-10 torx skinny screwdriver, and a 10mm socket wrench/driver.
Find the little torx screw near the bottom side of the headlight nearest the wheel and remove it. Tug and wiggle on the turn signal unit and it'll come loose. You'll find three 10mm bolts that hold the headlight unit in. More tug and wiggle and the unit falls free. After bulb replacement (don't touch the glass or finger oils can cause it break under high heat) replace the headlight unit. You'll see little plastic guides that the signal unit slides into- replace the unit and the tiny screw that holds it all in place. Replace the other bulb too, the second one takes a tenth of the time :)

THE HEADLIGHTS TO MY 2000 DODGE DAKOTA WONT TURN ON, THE HIGH BEAMS FUNCTION, HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE SWITCH-SAME THING, TOLD TO BRING IT TO DODGE!

what switch did yoiu replace??? the power goes from the headlight switch then to the hi-lo beam switch and out to the bulbs. did you ck the bulbs?? they could both be burned out. The mechanic should not change anything until tests have been performed and the component that is at fault found. sounds like a parts changer.

Install headlights on dodge charger

Pop the hood and find the back of the bulb you need to change and you should see a cover. Turn this cover a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and it will unlock the bulb and it can then be pulled out.
