I have replaced the crank pos sensor as well and the sense ring is completly clear

I have checked the gas for water by removing the tank draining it and replacing the fuel. I found minor corrosion in the fuel rail so i replaced all the injectors and cleaned the rail. I have fuel pressure althought the check valve in the fuel pump module is bad but that should only effect the quickness of the starting i assume. when it starts it will sometimes idle ok for about a min and then start to miss then die. fuel pressure was constant during this idle too. when it is idling if i try to advance the throttle it imediatly dies. I have a new trtl pos sensor as well. - Is it possible for this problem to be caused by the Mass Airflow sensor?

I have also had to clean the crankshaft position sensor
which also controls spark timing...It should not wear out but the connection may weaken if there is a lot of crud in the gap at the front.

If the car started and then stopped and if you have ruled out the fuel system(make sure you do have fuel pressure and your not chasing your tail) then it could be one of 2 items.
First i would replace the cap and rotor, I have had cars that ran fine then died and after replacing the cap and rotor have been perfect.
the other common issue with this model is water in the gas. The fuel filler drain gets clogged which allows water in teh gas tank, when the car sits it seems the mixture will allow the car to run then boom, it will die and not restart.

1994 Geo Metro will not start

all spark plugs dead. and at the main coil?
in this case after fuse (test them , ones that look good can be bad)
these steps work or all EFI cars made.
first is the rotor spinning cranking, if not the cam belt snapped!
a 1 second check, do you try to run 60k mile belts 200k ?

  1. CEL lamp on? key on? no crank? y/n,, if no the ECU is dead. or lamp burned out, we fix this FIRST. for next tests.
  2. I insert the diagnostic jumper clip (paper clip)
  3. the CEL now flashes codes, write them all down.
  4. I then crank for 5 seconds. and release the key.
  5. The ECU then reports live codes. beyond above stored codes.
  6. The ECU is very good at finding bad crank or cam sensors dead or even missing pulses, 1 in 10 lost. trust it, on all cars ......
  7. if no sensor code errors or spark bad errors then do the next things.
  8. The ecu also reads back the Tacho signal and will report dead tacho, sig, the ECU creates this and is the COIL drive signal to the ignition coil via the IGNITOR device.
  9. If the ignitor dies, or the coil primary opens, (dead Ign.coil) then the ECU see this and gives you Spark fail codes, cranking only!
  10. if you get far with a dead ignition coil, the ignitor is bad or the coil assuming coil even has power 12vcd key on.
this is all in the FSM, if you read it.
as is the Ignitior tests, and the coil tests.
The FSM is an amazing thing if your read it.
buy one.

ECU = engine brain, or EFI brain
EFI = eletronic fuel injection
CEL is the check engine light also called SES or MIL.
your ECU is OBD1 and no scan tool works .
only the winky blinky light.

No spark on 1994 jeep grand cherokee /wont start

If the check engine light does NOT light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem typical of early 90's jeeps. Repair or replacement services for your jeep ECU are available on ebay.

Starter turning over but car not starting

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--
1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery.with meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged.if the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop.if the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.
2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? if no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack.if the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack.the spark plugs gets power to spark from coil pack.
3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car.if the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car.but if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.
4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car.if there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.
5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then its a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked.the car gets power from the battery to get started.so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I suspect from your diagnostics described you may have faulty spark plug wires.start[or crank]engine in the dark ;observe plug wires, look for sparks from wires to engine,if evident, replace wires.[one at a time to maintain proper order].
