Hello,

You probably should take it for repair as soon as possible. It sounds like your lower hose may be leaking. If you overheat the engine it could cause you a lot more problems:)

vw beetles do not have a temp gauge so instead when the car is cold the light is blue at normal temp no light when over heating or low coolant red light and it beeps, you need the right coolant for your vw it is pink in color and some napas have it (Not DEX Cool) and you probably have a coolant leak, usually a plastic flang at rear of cylinder head goes bad

hi ,trust me you have a leak somewhere ,first fill the radiator/resiviour with water while your engine is running ,when its full and no more air bubbles are coming out ,put the cap on . now keep the jeep running for at least 30 minutes and every 5 minutes check underneath the engine for escaping water .you should spot the leak this way ,if not ,then your head gasket in your engine is probably leaking water into your exhaust and evaporating your water away without being seen ,this would require a large repair by a mechanic.

Hi:
Your coolant temp sensor was not reading right, and is a sensor that adjusts your eng timing. I would keep an eye on your coolant level. That would be a bigger concern, figuring out if you have a leak. If the cold comes back, you need to change out the coolant temp sensor.

Coolent is leaking from overflow and overheating

I will agree with your uncle and say that you should check the water pump. Start the vehicle and look at the water pump. Most water pumps have a "weep hole". If there is coolant coming out of this hole the water pump is not working properly. If not, and if the temperature has been running normally, you may have fixed the problem when you replaced the cap, if the water pump is good and the temp has been running high, then check the thermostat. Hope this helps and good luck.
