While I'm driving the key light sensor begins to flash and the car turns off.
98 honda accord lx. Tried another copy of key and it works fine but suddenly It happens again while I'm driving.
While driving down the road or highway, the engine cuts out without warning, and the car starts to glide. Green key light flashes. Tach and speedometer drop to zero (even if still going 50mph). Sometimes if I'm lucky, everything goes back on within a few seconds. If not, I pull over to the side of the road. After 5-15 minutes of waiting and trying to start the car every few minutes, the car will start again and drive fine . . . Until the next time. 1998 Honda Accord EXLV (V6).

Re: flashing key sensor on and suddenly car turns off
Make sure you are not using the valet key. if still goes on take the key to a honda dealer and let them reprogramme the key,. most dealers do it for free.

On your HONDA. the common problem is the Vehicle speed sensor . I recomend get the car scanned with a diagnostic computer scanner. Because the speed sensor malfuntion, will give a code and Afect the trans. with the performance. The "D" light flashing is code refer to a transmission malfuntion. But the code can be only for the speed sensor. The AUTOZONE, ADVANCE and NAPA autoparts. they will scan your car without charge is just a Extra service that they give to the customers. If the scanner show the speed sensor code Just replace and the car will fine.
I had the same problem on my 1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl. It was the ignition switch. I received a letter from Honda regarding a recall on the ignition switch and had it replaced. 3 years after replacement it would turn off again & this time I purchased part from eBaby & replaced it myself. It hasn’t stalled since.
On my 1990 Accord Lx I have the same problem. My floor pan has a hole in it some where and my carpet gets wet which gets my computer wet causeing the "S" light to flash and then when my tranny shifts it skips 2nd gear.
i have a 92' honda accord lx, it has a problem of the D4 light flashing and the car wouldnt start, but i could wait a few minutes and try again and it would start.
on my 95 accord my d4 light used to flash after driving for for an hour or 2 then the speedo would do strange things.so i changed the speed sensor relay [located on the gearbox] and solved the problem.

OK. I hope this help on your problem.
Thank you for use fixya.
A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
