I have a 2003 ford expedition eddie bauer 4x2, with the "DOOR AJAR" light coming on the dash, forcing the interior lights to remain on. I took off the inside door panel off the driver door to fix the driver window button, and after putting it all back together, now the door ajar light won't go off. I've checked everything, Anyone Please Help !!!!
The wire on the door latch make sure they are plugged in or unplug it and the light should go out if it does not then it's not that door
I would remove the panel to make sure the switch wasnt knocked out of the latch when you removed the door panel. Next i would lubricate the latches librally with a lubricant like wd-40. Then for a better word slam each door a few times and watch the door ajar light and see which latch is causing this lght. It might not be the drivers door. Dont forget the rear liftgate but dont slam that. After you figure out which door it is you can replace the switch or, wait til it goes complely bad.
I had the same problem with my 2003 F-150. To fix the problem I spayed WD-40 into each door latch, problem resolved!!!

So we need to take the door panel off of each door and check the wiring? We did this for the driver door when we replaced the driver side window switch. and it still stayed on. So we need to take the door panels off one by one to see if it still stayes on? thanks
Unbelievable...I have the exact same problem, when I read your comment I thought wow! It amazes me that Ford continues to use products/parts that are notrious for failure. I also experienced the same problem with my drivers side door window switch when I asked about a replacement I was told the panel would have to be replaced at a cost of several hundred dollars (was told that was a common problem), and I also have a problem with my 6 disc CD changer not working another common problem...I like to buy American, just wish the quality standards were higher...it would be one thing if my vehicle problem was an isolated incident I could understand that, but for this to be as common as it is thats a shame. I've always tryed to keep a American made vehicle in my driveway but these on going problems have changed my mind...I also have a Nissan 10yrs old with 200,000+ miles on it still running with no major problems...tell me why should I continue to keep hope and faith in my American made vehicles when its obvious (Ford Expeditions) have maufacture problems that are noted but not taken care of...what ever happened to "Quality is Job One" I see why that slogan was removed from the commercials.
