I had the same problem. Try pushing inward on the key while wiggling the steering wheel. You most likely cut of the ingnition before you had completely stopped the car, or took you foot off the brake before it completely stopped. This happens on any type of slope and lock up the spring.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing... Also, try to remove any tension on steering components...Try turning the steering wheel a bit more towards the direction the wheels are turned...This will relieve tension on steering wheel internal lock.

When I turned it off, I forgot to put the shift into P. It started rolling, so I shifted it then. When I tried to start the car a little later, the steering column was locked. Usually, you push in the key,...

Leave it in park and try to roll the car back slightly while turning the key and jerk on the wheel. Feel free to manhandle the wheel, it can take it.

O7 Mazda Cx-7 Stuck in Park

Possibly crawl under car and dissconnect the shifter and manually move the selector on the trans out of Park Position. Normally the locking feature is in the steering column.. which you can also take apart to release this feature.

Mazda Tribute won't start and has no electricity

This is a common problem with Mazda tribute and Ford escape. Replace the ignition switch. Actually, if you close the doors and turn everything off. Insert key and turn to on position, do not start, verify all dashboard lights come on. If they are, just press key in and jiggle around a bit, then try starting, u may have to do it a couple of times to start it. But, change the switch and possibly the key tumbler..do switch first and test. .then key tumbler if not successful. Both parts should cost less than $80..good luck.

P.S. you can replace the switch yourself, remove steering column 4 screws, switch has a yellow or white markings and is on the left of the column opposite the key side.

2008 Mazda tribute won't start easily and normally anymore. Sometimes only starts when I turn the key all the way very hard while putting pressure on it . It's like pressing the key inward whi

It sounds like it is a linkage issue between the lock cylinder and the ignition switch. The ignition switch is located on the steering column and there is usually a rod that connects the lock to the switch. These switches have some adjustment, so you should be able to loosen the bolts and move the switch up the column. Just remove the panels below the steering column and look for a bunch of wires plugged in towards the bottom of the steering column.
