It kinda chokes out and tries to die in reverse. It also grabs a little and pulls it seems like. I just replace the hub on the driverside and the fuel filter.
SOURCE: fuel filter
It depends on which motor you have, 1.5L,1.8L, 2.4L and 1.6(VIN code 5) it is inline on chasis or firewall. Guessing you already looked there, I'm assuming you have a 2.0L,2.7L or a 1.6(VIN code 3), making it tougher to find because on these particular models the only filter is in the fuel tank with the sending unit, or fuel sender as some call it. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: 2000 kia sephia constant engine stalling!!!
try this procedure and let me know if it cures the problem.
Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
SOURCE: 01 kia optima stalled and wont start...starter just clicks
It seems the starter is playing up.First check if your battery is charged fully or try to jump start and see what happens. If the engine start then it's either you need a new battery or else you need a replacement alternator.Test using a voltmeter if the actual altenator is working. Finally the last option is the starter motor that needs changing or fixing...Hope this helps.
Sounds like it maybe in one of the door switches. Role all the windows down turn on the ignition switch, get someone to sit in the car and watch the light. Close all the doors then grab the door and push and pull hard on the door. If the light flickers or come on the problem will be in that door switch. If neither happened jiggle and or tap on the switch for dome light. This seems a little far-fetched but change the bulb just in case the element in the bulb is broke and sometimes it makes connection.
