If the signal flashes on the outside of the glass, then the yellow lens will pop off the mirror assembly using a small screwdriver etc for bulb access. If the signal flashes inside the mirror assembly, the mirror will need replacement or there is a wiring issue
If it's the approach light under the mirror, the lens pops out to replace the bulb. If it's the turn signal bulb, then the mirror cover has to come off
Check to see if there is a hidden screw on top or on the other side. If there is none, try to move the lens side a little bit before pulling it outwards, a tab on the back must be holding it.
- Adjust the mirror so the mirror glass is in as
far as it will go (meaning if you were looking in the mirror you would
see the side of the truck)
- Look inside the mirror housing - Locate silver clip - Using a flat screw driver, push the clip in - Lenses will pop out on the outside - Remove bulb - Replace bulb - Snap back together when new bulb in place.
Its tricky, you have to take the whole mirror apart in order to take the clear lens out where the light comes from. you cannot just replace the bulb. you have to replace the clear lens that comes with a built in led light.
first you pull on the mirror glass. do this very gently.. start from the top on the glass and pull very gently until the mirror comes off.. if you have a heated mirror, after you pull the glass, you will have to disconnect the wire. then you will see 3 torx screws that hold the top part on the mirror. losen those. take the top part off, then from behind you will see two more screws which you losen to remove the bottem part of the mirror. then you will see to clips that hold the led blinker in place. push on those carefully and it should come out.. you will also have to be carefull when you dissconect the wire from the led turn signal. as you might break the clip.. then replace it and follow the these step backwards..
Actually the first answer was right. On my 2007 Sprinter chassis, the side mirrors have an upper flat mirror and a lower convex mirror. The upper mirror comes off exactly as described; by tilting it so that it faces down, and then gently lifting it from the top to slide it off the track. (On my sprinter the mirrors are heated, so there are wires that remain attached when you slide it off.
This reveals three screws that you can get at with a torex screw driver without needing any flexible shafts etc. It appears that there is a fourth screw or clip of some sort on the bottom, but I was not able to figure out how to get the bottom convex mirror off to get at it. That would enable the removal of the full shell.
Even without that bottom screw I was able to flex the shell enough to get the turn signal lens assembly out. But removing it entirely requires reaching in with needle nosed pliers and rotating the bulb assembly a quarter turn, and then reversing the whole assembly to get it back. In my case I was replacing the turn signal lens, but it should work the same for replacing the bulb. Good luck.
