I just bought a 2009 Chevy Aveo from the dealer, 33k miles. When Start the car in the cold mornings to warm it up, it has this smell like something is burning coming from the vents. I don't see evidence of a leak. What gives?
Check to make sure you dont have anything (plastic bag, etc) burned and stuck on the exhaust, othere than that it could be a normal smell associted with the different materials getting hot, i would compare it to another like vehicle and see, could also be trapped odors in the heater core caused by a previous smoker or bacteria growing, gm sells an odor elimnator that works pretty well

Hello
make sure that they check all of rubber materials that could be burning which is a number of things, The ac belt could be slipping and getting hot, other hoses could be burning on the exhaust, sound insulation or under coating on the bottom of the car. they need to do just a good thourough inspection, even raise the car up on the lift to make sure nothing is bent, broke, rubbing or missing. The loose hose clamp is not going to smell like burnt rubber, maybe antifreeze but not rubber simply tell them you would like these things checked out they should do that for you
Good luck
Chris

It could be your heater blower motor or the blower speed regulating reisitor.
Try different blower speeds, see if the smell goes away. Also if one or more speed setting don't work, it is more than likely it is the resistor, if no to the tests, it is more likely to be the blower motor.
Also check to see if the blower intake is blocked.

Have you considered the alternator and battery? When the alternator isn't working, it wont charge the battery and supply proper amperage to the ecu, starter, coils etc which then the vehicle will not start, or if it does start it will not run proper. Try taking the alternator out and taking it to a local autozone for them to check it. Then you will determine the faulty equipment to replace.
