Driver side window was punched out, safelite fixed the window, then said, btw- your door might not open..... obviously they did something, to no avail, we have taken the inner door panel off, still cannot find a way to physically, open the door. we can see the wirey bars are bent inside. how can i get the door to open?
Oh well, hey, if you got the panel off, you've already accomplished the near impossible! And no thanks to safelite, very rude of them. The bars or rods should be able to be pushed or pulled to ...open door latch, or work locks. Is that the kind of bars you mean? If so, find the door lock and get that unlocked, then the door. If it isn't like I picture it, get a good ole Cadillac person to open it for you!

If you cannot operate the window from either switch, I'd first test switch continuity and operation, both front and rear. If they both pass muster , I'd have to say the fault lies behind the door trim, probably the motor, which also be tested once reaching that point..

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then pull back the weather seal...

CAUTION: 1999 CadillacDeville is equipped with Side Impact Airbag located under the dorr trim panel. Any repair to the doors requires disarming the Supplementsl Restraint System (SRS) to prevent accidental deployment of the airbag which can cause serious pesonal injury. 1. Disable the SIR system. 2. Remove the power window switch assembly. 3. Remove the door trim plate. 4. Gently pull the trim panel inboard in order to disengage the trim fastener that retains the outside rearview mirror trim cover. 5. Remove the fasteners around the outer perimeter of the door panel by prying out with a commercially available door trim fastener removal tool. Pry only hard enough to disengage the fasteners from the sheet metal door skin. Be careful not to pry out too far or damage to the hooks inside the door panel will result. 6. Remove the door trim panel by lifting upward and outward in order to disengage the hooks from the door. 7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the trim panel. 8. Remove the trim panel.
