Will not tunr over but I have power. It happened once in the summer and then eventually started. I did not have the problem since. It is now doing it again. It will not start in neutral. New battery, new starter, alternator tested and is fine. Sometimes putting it in neutral, then back to park, it will start.
Sounds like the neutral safety switch is faulty. Slamming the shifter into Park has temporarily solved the condition for some, but the switch may have to be replaced.
I order from gmpartsdirect.com. It has saved me quite a bit of money. Sometimes as much as 50%. Make sure the problem is properly diagnosed, though, and give gmpartsdirect.com a call, so they can verify the correct part. I don't see it listed when I searched for CONTROL ASSEMBLY, so they might have it listed as something else.

Thank you for your input. For anyone's information, the technical name for a neutral safety switch on the Impala is the CONTROL ASSEMBLY, which is why no parts stores could find one for me! Also, they are almost four hundred dollars. Whether I replace the assembly or the ignition key cylinder ($500), I'm gonna be BROKE! (LOL)
