2004 jeep grand cherokee, how does the inner door pannels come off? Is it like the older model where they pop off. don't want to break it off. Jim

This says the unit is a single CD unit, but also has an optional 10 CD unit. They usually hide in the sidewall of the trunk area behind a door.

a common item on this vehicle is one or more wires breaking in the wire harness, look at the door wire harness that goes between the door itself and the body. strip the covering off the harness and check the individual wires for breakage or corrosion. If there is room and not too many broken you can have them repaired, otherwise on some models yuo can buy the section of wire harness from the door to the body and just replace the assembly.

Call a tow service, they can use a slim jim to open the door.

I had this problem in December with my car its a ground wire that runs through the drive side door. with labor it cost me about $90 for my mechanic to fix it. Its a defect in the design, the wiring runs through the door so over time all the open and closoing of the door loosens the wire and it pops off. I would look into that as your problem.

Either bad motor or bad switch.Pull off inner door pannel find hot wire going to motor hook a hot wire and ground wire directly to motor if motor works it will be a bad switch

Pop the rubber eletrical cover off in the door jam I have seen maybe wires break in there from years of open and closing of the door.

There is a broken wire in the rubber casing between the door and the vehicle. Take the rubber casing off and you will more than likely find a broken wire or one about to break. Been there and done that.

you can not prevent the alarm from going off because there is no disarm switch in the door lock mechanism. the only actual solution is to replace the key

a slim jim is not a good ideal to be using in todays cars and trucks with airbags everywhere and wires inside doors..call a pro and if he pulls out a slim jim send him packin...there a re far better tools to use than a slim jim
