Tow haul on 2001 chevy silverado does not work

I own a 2001 chevy silverado and the tow haul does not work. There is no error codes and the two wires under the steering column are connected. Could you advise what else i could look for? the button on the gear lever seems to be OK. I checked this with a multimeter for a circuit.

If the unit is getting the signal frim the pedal depression, it has to work. check that it's getting the signal when you depress the pedal. Check those connections, if all that is fine, the unit itself is faulty.

SOURCE: tow/haul does not work on 2000 chevy truck. whereis fuse?

I had a problem with my tow/haul button not working. I came to find out that the gear shift had cut the wire running to the button in two. You may want to check that.

Either the pin that connects rod to tranny is broken off, or there is internal transmission problems.

check all your fuses. If your lucky you might find one the is blown and could be related If not fuse related then you need to remove the platic steering column cover. Under there at the end of the shift lever you will find two small wires that are for the tow haul button. These wires get brittle and break over time from shift level movement it seems. You will have to repair the broken wire and you should be good to go!

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. The tow/haul light turns on (yellow) and will not turn off. Is this a problem?

It is if, it is locking out your overdrive. Check to see if it shifts into all the gears your transmission has... ie. 5 speed = 4 shifts.

My 2002 chevy silverado tow haul mode is now working. The light doesn't come on and the overdrive stays on

You either have a bad switch or the wires have lost contact.
The tow/haul switch is part of the shift lever and is not replaceable without changing the shift lever. The electrical connector is located inside the steering column covers. These wires have been known to part.

Chevy 2000 silverado tow haul wont work, light wont come on and the engine light stays on all the time

I had that problem yesterday and researched the web. Found out underneath the steering column, take the bottom plastic cover off, there is a orange wire for the tow/haul. It's actually 2 white wires with orange covering. It was broke.
Splice the two wires back together and it works great...

Transmission tow/haul mode

Hi, the problem is when you are tilting the steering wheel all the way up it's putting to much tenstion on the wires that come outof your shifter that run to the tow/haul button. i am 99% sure your wires are disconected. rewire them and add some extra wire so next time there will be more slack in your wires.
