Not a clarification but a comment: Hell!!! you can buy a complete steering column for way less than that, and it's easier to replace than taking it apart!!! Note: it will crank if sensors are shot. (just won't start)
If it's not cranking, there's a problem with power getting to starter. Is this intermittent or is it being towed from shop to shop?

Well I would suggest looking up the cost of the ignition switch yourself, this way you can figure out how much they are overcharging you for the part and figure out the labor charges. I would look into replacing it yourself if it comes down to that being the problem, most cars aren't hard to do. BUT, if it tested good already and a wire is bad to the starter that would be the place to start. If it doesn't work after that, move to the next step. You can also have it scanned and see if any codes come up, those cars are notorious for having cam/crank shaft sensor issues. Good luck!

My 07 chevy colorado will not start just clicking of starter when holding the ignition down and while holding the ignition down the gauges jump as if Its to dead to start . It will start if someone gives...

If your battery has been tested OK, and Bosch is a very good battery by the way, then a clicking sound from the starter motor contactor means it is not getting sufficient current. This means a bad conductivity somewhere. If the engine turns over when you use a jump start from another vehicle, it suggests that there is enough energy to overcome the poor conductivity. The most likely culprit is the inside of the battery terminal connectors, which may have a layer of contaminant which is limiting the good connection. Clean the inside of the terminal connectors with an abrasive action and make sure the bolts are tight. Failing that, the same problem may exist where the cable from the battery joins the starter motor. Check both the primary circuit (through ignition key relay) and the secondary circuit which carries the starting current. This, unfortunately usually means getting to a hard to access place (where the starter motor is mounted) Good luck. Cheers, Don.

Car won't start. Does not turn over

When ever a vehicle wont start due to no crank always start trouble shooting from the source the battery. Then keep going down the line .Battery and starter and connections and so on. Also don't forget to check the charging system to make sure its charging the battery back up.

Jeep doesn't start. Turn key, hear slight click in fuse box but nothing else? Took battery out to be checked Pep Boys says its good, needs a "slight" charge. Went home reinstalled the clean...

clean all connections very good ( batt post connectors, gound wire from batt to frame/motor, also clean starter connections, and alternator connections) I know pep boys checked but you cannot properly check a battery unless it has a full charge!!!!! If it wont accept a full charge then batt is bad, If it charges to a full charge and fails a draw test the batt is bad. also when a draw test is done you can have the charging system checked also to make sure batt is recieving the proper charge input. all inexpensive checks, get it running and take it to a garage, 3 min test usually not even a charge most of the time. NOT A DEALER, and have them show you what they are doing. if you are a female have a male friend go with you or have it done. I dont care what anybody says!!!!!! When it comes to a inexperienced female, the DEALERSHIP,the REPAIR GARAGES will all try to get some kind of MONEY out of you before you leave their place of business.

Pt wont start or turn over

try to get a jump from a friend and see what happens, does the same, faulty starter, may need replacing, try to use small hammer and tap lightly on the starter couple time and have a friend start the car while you tap lightly on it. check ignition switch where you stick the key in. stick the key in the ignition and turn the key back and forth jiggle and wiggle it and see if your igniting will make contact. do it several time to test and see if its the ignition problems, this part is not cheap to replace.

1997 Honda Accord EX wont start then will start

Most of these Accords had two recalls pertaining to the ingnition switch. There is an interlock issue, and an electrical portion of the ignition switch recall. I would start by replacing the electrical portion of the ignition switch as this will most times fix this issue. The clicking noise may indicate an issue with the starter however. Would advise having a starting and charging system test at a professional repair facility to check the starter, but the ignition issue would be where i would start.
