If the key does not turn at all in the ignition tumbler then your going to need to drill a hole in the side of the steering lock in order to manually release the steering lock and remove it complete with the ignition tumbler attached. If you get a new steering lock you can examine it to see exactly where to drill the hole and how to manually release it. If the key does turn at least to position 1 then all you need is the removal pins that slide into the small holes around the face of the tumbler. If there are no holes then once the key is in position 1 all you have to do is turn the tumbler housing to the left until is unscrews. Let me know if you need any further assistance on the removal if the key is stuck.

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz c220 ignition will not turn.

Did you try jacking up the car at the front then wiggle the steering as you turn the key? Did you try a spare key? Spray inside the mechanism with WD40. Try putting the key in at different depths and turning.
The lock cylinder is a replace only item.

SOURCE: How do I remove the door panel on a 1995 Mercedes

pull off rear mirror panel, pull off electric seat adjuster knobs, pull off plastic around door handles. Unbolt top of handle. Pull out light at bottom of door. Unscrew plastic stiker plate and remove. Unscrew lock knob to remove. Then your ready to wiggle and pull the panel up and off, be careful of the area around the door handle, you may even want to pry that area out before you begin.

Hi I need to replace barrel and key in a mercedes W124 series 1997model do I have to remove complete ignition with the steering lock what are the procedures or can I remove it while it is still in the

This must be a euro or canadian model.96 was the last year for the US124, they went to the 210 chassis with the oval lights. assuming its the same you dont have to remove the steering lock asbly. Remove the square plastic trim around the kel then you will need special tools like a straightened paper clip which you will insert between the tumbler and the black bezel. There is a notch on the tumbler and a mrking on the black bezel when aligned insert tool into what now will be a hole. It will release the bezel so you can now start to remove it by turning in a counter clockwise direction until bezel and tumbler are out. i hope what your reffering to as the barrel is what i assume you mean is the tumbler. anyways that will have to be done to go any further to address any further problems with your ignition.Call your local mbz dealer with your vin and drivers license and order an already cut key and tumbler like stock. hope this helped

LOST ORIGINAL IGNITION KEY ON 1989 MERCEDES BENZ. REPLACEMENT KEY I RECEIVED DOES NOT FIT IGNITION SO ORDERED A IGNITION SWITCH TUMBLER AND NEED TO GET INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REMOVE OLD...

it would be cheaper to have a locksmith make a key to fit your old ignition lock. I dont know why you didnt do that, before ordering a lock cylinder. Nothing on a MB is cheap. the key is the cheapest thing there is.

1995 C220: Cannot get ignition to turn to on to start car. Steering wheel lock is not the problem. Key just will not turn. Any suggested solutions?

check the key itself if the blade is worn out then it won't push back all the tumbler keys not allowing the tumbler to turn. try a newer key and replace the ignition tumbler asap..

I want to remove the ignition switch out of my 199 mercedes SL300

if its jammed you may be out of luck. the process is to turn the key to position 2 and put a set of pins in the 2 holes in the tumbler and remove. The only other way i know is to have it drilled out. A stealership may have better options. Either way yoou need a new tumbler with new key.
