Honda Misses. Have a 1995 Honda Accord 2.2, 4 cylinder (non-v-tek) 5 speed manual. Started missing under power, idle OK. Replaced Igniter, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, cleaned the EGR ports and valve, new spark plugs, wires, coil wire and coil. No change. No change when EGR disconnected and vacuum plugged. No vacuum leaks. Miss appears random cylinders. All the above looked needed, fuel filter was nearly plugged, EGR ports were plugged, spark plug wires appeared original equipment, but no improvement. Appears to worsen after warm up, not so bad when cold. Hate to spend near $500. for throttle position sensor, idle control, and EGR valve, when I can get a low mile drop in motor for $500. When I power through miss fire (high RPM) motor still has incredible power, spin the tires at 50 MPH +, so hard to believe it has an internal engine problem, although it is a high mile motor. Any ideas?

    Timing Belt slipped a tooth/bad?

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2014

I replaced the temperature control sensor, cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, ignition control module on the distributor, coil, MAP sensor, Egr valve, o2 sensor, and rebuilt the TBI also 2 new injectors. did compression test they are all about 160 pounds except cyl #8 is 155. there is a slight miss but all plugs are dry and caramel brown. its as if the miss is changing cylinders, not fowling plugs. my hydrocarbons are at 330 ppm. I am out of ideas.

Pin point the dead hole and check that injector.

I need the igniter location on my 1991 honda accord lx

Igniter and cam sensor are located inside the distributor, If the coil is at fault it may be a good idea to inspect the wiring/contacts as well as replace the housing body gasket to prevent water intrusion. Main relay is dash is a common no start problem, when it fails there is no power to the ecu.

1991 Honda Accord Miss-fires dies

I would try replacing the ignition control module and the distributor pickup as the next most likely cause of this problem. Also I would do the following

This problem can be caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Your misfire can be cause by couple of things but the cheapest way that you can try to fix your car is to do a tune up by replacing:
1)all spark plugs
2)do a oil change
3)spark plug wires
3)distributor cap and rotor

note misfire can be cause by:
1.bad gas
2.spark plug and/or wire
3.distributor cap and/or rotor
4.valve adjustment
5.injector
6.off timing
7.ECM
8.bad wiring(power, ground or feed line)

First started not cranking after shutting off say to fill up, mite wait 5 min or a few hours and it will crank and be fine for weeks. now it started like losing power and going dead. agan may wait 5 min or...

Might be two problems, but one is your igniter in the distributor. The second, the idling problem is either your throttle position sensor, or a vacuum leak. With the engine running , check all hoses for leaks by wiggling them around, while listening for a hissing. Check intake bolts for tightness.

1991 Honda Accord won't start

Could be the igniter inside the distributor (unless you have an external coil). Look on your distributor to see if there are 5 wires leading from it. If there are, you have an external coil that is likely bad... If you have only 4 wires coming from your distributor it is most likely the internal ignition inside the distributor ($50.+). AS SOON AS YOU GET IT STARTED CHANGE YOUR OIL. Your fuel pump has loaded your cylinders with fuel and it has probably leaked down into your oil pan making your oil thin and mixed with gas.

4.3 Liter V-6 Idles rough when in gear, runs fine on highway.

Can you check fuel trims at idle and under load?
If fuel trim is high at low speed and load, look for a vacuum leak.
If fuel trim is high at high speed and loads, look for fuel volumn problem or restriction.
If fuel trim is high at all speeds and loads look for pcm input fault, maybe a maf sensor problem?
If fuel trim is negative low speed and load, look for fuel pressure regulator or injector leak. If fuel trim is negative at all speeds and loads check ect and iac.

If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. key on engine off, 60--66 psi fuel pressure.

1990 5 speed Honda Accord DX 2 cylinders wont fire

Could be head gasket or piston rings. Piston ring issues will smoke under load or when revving the engine.

Do a compression test.

1995 Honda Accord will not start

First you must check to see what missing. You must have spark at the pugs and gas at the injector for this car to start. See whats missing and get back to me. The 1995 Honda Accord has a history of bad distributor. If there is no spark at the spark plugs replace distributor. However on some models the coil is separate and not in the distributor, if so make sure the coil is working.
