I know the car needs a new throttle chain but last might when driving home I put it into first gear and it was moving very slow and when I try to shift it feels like the shifter is not in place it won't go into 4 or 5 gear how do I fix it?

Replace the speed sensor on the trans that will cause exactly what you describe is happening.

The gear selector is locked until the system detects the brake pedal is being pressed, the brake circuit then sends a signal to the shifter release solenoid to pull a pin back and let you shift out of park, this is a safety feature required by federal law, U need to have someone see if the brake lights go on when you press the pedal, if they don't check the switch at the top of the brake pedal, if the brake lights work then the little solenoid is defective.
SOURCE: won't shift, seems like it's stuck in park
If it's not making horrible washing machine noises, it sounds like it's low on fluid. Make sure the ATF is in the operating range with it running in Park.
SOURCE: gear shift moves fine will not engage gear.
then the transmission has failed or has sticking engagement solenoid in trans pan, have the fluid and filter replaced and see if that corrects the problem

i know for CERTAIN what the problem is. the shaft inside the steering colume which connects the shift lever to the transmission cable was mad to very close tolerances. closer than needed. when it ages the grease it was lubricated with hardens and that seizes the shift lever. it WILL BREAK if you don't remedy immediately. although the new part is not to close tolerences and only costs 430 and is relatively easy to replace you can do preventative maintainence. tkae the shroud off the steering colume. ( two or three screws. look at the shaft that is connected to the shift lever.... you'll see three or four OIL HOLES on top that the factory put there just for this contingency. OIL THESE HOLES with 3in1 oil and work the shift lever and oil again until it is freed up.
