My 1997 Honda civic lx manual has a misfire on #2. Put in brand new ngk sparks, new Bosch wire set, new distributor cap and rotor. Cleaned out the fuel injectors and they seem fine. Measured ohms on all four injectors and they all read 11.8ohms. Did a injector swap and #2 still misfires. Measured voltage on injector wire harness and seems like #2 is getting low voltage. What can be the problem? CEL blinks every time I start the car. Car will start and run. Won't die at all.
Have you performed a compression test?a cylinder with low or no compression will cause a misfire
Testimonial: "Thanks. Did a compression test and all cylinders were at 150 and cylinder 2 was at 65. So i'm thinking either the exhaust valve is burnt or the cylinder itself is bad. What are diagnostics? Planning to take the valves apart to see if they are burnt."

Unfortunately you probably need a new distributor. There are three pick-up coils mounted down inside the base of it. They go bad quite commonly. The unfortunate part is; the new distributor will come with a new cap, rotor, coil and module...which you have already bought. The distributors are not that expensive though, maybe you can sell the extra parts???

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.
SOURCE: Number one cylinder misfiring.
Check and replace your timing belt, although it is probably not the culprit, I have seen a tooth missing from a worn timing belt cause misfiring.
It is probably the Crankshaft Position Sensor, or the Camshaft Position Sensor causing the misfire.

Hello.. looks like you are getting good fuel delivery. Is the fuel curve mixture on the scanner in specs? How is the timing, the timing chains on these engines will stretch and throw the timing off causing a ping and missfire -- a weak valve spring is something to consider. Also, the PCM may be faulty. I hope this helps.

No I haven't. I'll do that later today. Was wondering why I was getting low voltage for the wire harness for the injectors at #2 though.
there is no computer sensor for compression some systems shut down the misfiring cylinder
Like you said. I tested the compression on the cylinders and all cylinders were at 150 except for cylinder 2 which was at 65. I assume the valve is burnt or the cylinder itself is bad. I plan on taking the valves apart to see if they are burnt. What would your diagnostics be?
before you take it apart pour some auto trans fluid down the plug holes honds have a problem with the rings sticking and then burning oiul after having the head off don't know why but it happens
So when I pour some trans fluid down the plug holes, do I put the spark plugs back on and drive it or do the compression test again afterwards? And how much is "some" trans fluid?
Mike, i tried the auto trans fluid down the plugs holes to no avail. I let it run for about ten minutes, did a compression test and still 60psi. It just made the car smoke and the engine knock. i might need to let it run to let it burn off. any other suggestions? thanks
