SOURCE: electric fans runs after car is shut off, drains battery

Having the fan run on for a bit after the engine has stopped is not abnormal in itself, but 20 minutes sounds excessive.

If the fan does eventually shut off, I'd consider changing the thermoswitch (this is a sensor screwed into the radiator somewhere near the bottom, with a pair of wires connected to it - to change it, you'll need to drain the cooling system).

If the fan stays on continuously until the battery is completely flat, see what happens when you unplug the wires from the thermoswitch. If this stops the fan, you need to replace the thermoswitch. If it doesn't, then you need to examine the wiring associated with the switch and the fan, looking for damaged insulation.

SOURCE: I have a question, is

Yes. I have a 2006 Jetta and the cooling fan (the one on the radiator) runs after I shut my car off. It's to continue to disperse the heat and cool things off. No worries. I would watch it and make sure it does not become a problem tho.

2010 Jetta Sportwagen- something near the coolant reservoir still running after the car is shut off. Maybe the wiper fluid pump? Can't find the corresponding fuse. What's my solution?

Some items on modern engines are on a timer. They switch off between 5 to 10 minutes after you remove the key. For instance BMW have a small electric pump that continues to circulate engine coolant. My Lexus closes the external air vent 5 minutes after I switch off.

If it was the wiper fluid pump, washer fluid would be squirting onto the screen.

The sunroof is over the cabin area, the item running in in the engine bay, so unlikely related..

If it continues to run overnight, call an auto-electrician.

150 hp Turbo Diesel engine will not shut off using the kill switch. Any idea on what the problem could be?

I obviously am not familiar with the application here but petrol engines have an electrical ignition system that can simply be turned off to stop the engine. However diesels have super high compression that causes the ignition. Diesels with mechanical fuel systems will continue running until the fuel is shut off or the engine is stalled. The fuel is usually supplied to the injector pump through a solonoid valve where an electrical supply is needed to open the valve and the valve springs shut when the supply is removed. The fault is 90% in my mind associated with the this fuel shut off valve. However there is another way that a diesel engine can find fuel to not allow it to stop. A turbo seal failure can atomise engine oil into the inlet manifold and the engine will continue running until all the is used up.

Blower continues running after car is shut off

Which blower?

Lots of manufacturers have wired the electric radiator cooling fan circuit to the battery direct rather than through the ignition switch controlled supply.

Cars of this type often have the fan running for several minutes after switching off and the fan can restart again later for a short time as the mass of the engine continues to release heat into the coolant and the thermo-syphon action causes circulation.

I have an 05 beetle 1.8 turbo the electric air injection pump continues running continues running and drains the battery

Remove and replace the fuel pump relay.

The electrical terminals inside the fuel pump relay are fuel.
Replace it before causing damage to fuel pump.

1997 buick fuel pump noise?

Well, the other possible item is a load leveling pump. You need to get the car on a safe lift and explore. If the fuel pump is the source, replace it as failure will be coming soon.

Can i install a turbo charge in my 1995 oldsmobile aurora?

I wouldnt recommend it. It is not just adding a piece of hardware. Head gaskets were not designed for the increased pressures. The computer will not change the fuel mix. You will need electronic protection for the excessive heat of the turbo when you turn car off, namely, a water pump has to continue circulating after you turn the car off. How would you accomplish that?
In short, you will gain 30% added free power, but engine reliability will be out of the window.

1996 impreza turbo over heats when engine turns off replaced thermostat already

Some / Most turbo vehicles have some sort of auxiliary or main ELECTRIC water pump that will circulate coolant around in the engine a little while whilst the electric cooling fans go to work passing air over the radiator.

Reason for this (among other things) is the oil and gets so dang hot in these motors trying to keep the turbo bearing(s) from seizing, and the oil wicks away a tremendous amount of heat during this time.

Maybe the circuitry to cool the engine down nominally after you shut the motor off is afoul?
