My wiper blades were frozen to the windshield and I turned on the car and didn't realize the wipers were turned on. Now the driver's side is broken. Passenger side works fine.
On the wiper arm at the bottom is a plastic cap. remove it and underneath is a 13 or 15 mm nut line the wiper back up and tighten the nut. the wiper should work.
glad i could help...sorry to see your dealer couldnt....have a great day
Years alter, but I just had hte same problem with my PT. First snow today and my husband went for the wipers over the scraper. Very pleased that I can tell him i fixed it. Thanks for your knowledge!

You are my hero! It worked like a charm. I took off the cap with my fingernail (see how easy) and discovered the blue Locktite on the nut was cracked, indicating the nut had moved. I was able to turn the nut with my fingers. I took it off, found a socket that fit (1/2") and aligned the wiper blade, tightened the nut and it works great!
Yesterday I went to the Dealer and they said it was a plastic clip on the linkage that had broken. They wanted me to pay a $65 diagnostic fee and estimated a 2 hour fix which would be $130 plus parts. My car has 37,500 miles so they also said it is not covered by warranty.
I have the same problem with my 2006 Toyota camry. In fact this is the second time it happened. The first time was under warrranty. Would the solution be the same .
when turning on wiper blades they dont work
