Never had problem before was driving down road and died hasnt cranked since
If it died and won't crank, sounds like you lost power to something.
Does the warning lights come on when you turn the key on ?
Got headlights ?
A mechanic would check for voltage at the starter and work back from there.
what do you mean by warning light? my engine light has been on for 2 years, and yes i have headlights, radio ect
First, I hope you know what the trouble codes are that are keeping the check engine light on. Because that could have an effect on the current problem. What I meant was, when you turn the key on, do you get warning lights on the dash ? That would tell you if the key switch is getting power. Then you would need to know if the starter is getting power from both the battery and the key switch. So if you do have lights and the radio works, the starter voltage is the next thing to check. Once you get the engine to crank, you can troubleshoot the reason why it quit running.
Its possible the engine locked up and will not turn now.

I assume the fuel pump fuse is good?
The only time voltage will be sent to the fuel pump will be the first 2 to 3 seconds if the starter is not engaged. You will want to crank the engine over and check for voltage on the load side of the relay, circuit #30 at the relay.
Let me know after you check.

you need to find the fuel pressure release around the fuel rail press the little tab when the car dies. If there is no fuel coming out from that point, your fuel pump is going.

ok check your timming belt then your ckt sensor the chip will not let the truck even crank or let the dash come on

Check fuel flter at fuel pick-up intank (looks like a small wire sock). Remove fuel filter and fitting at fuel rail. Blow out fuel lines w/about 35lbs air press. Ck electrical @ relay - should be 4 connectors - one is key on hot/one is always hot/one is ground and last is hot to fuel pump. Good Luck
SOURCE: dies while driving
my 99 chevy s-10 also dies while driving. the voltage meter in the dash will start to fausuate. it slowly starts to drop to the left, then it will drop all the way down, all my dash lights will come on, and then it immediately pops back up to the 14 mark. the voltage meter will also drop when i put it in reverse, when i hit my turnsignals, or just sitting there. i've changed the battery, the alternater, checked the wiring from the battery to the alternater, i'm confused and getting frustrated. can anyone help....
