SOURCE: 1998 GMC Sierra- runs rough then stalls when
had this problem on my neighbors 98 chevy truck with the same engine !!
it turnd out too be the fuel pressure regulator, you have too pull the upper intake too replace it!!
SOURCE: My 91 suburban does not
I have a 91 suburban and it wont hold idle. I am waiting for and egr valve. if that fixes it i will let you know. I was told that they can have an internal vacuum leak therefore being difficult to detect.
SOURCE: how do i replace the fuel pump on a 1992 gmc sonoma?
The fuel pump is in the tank, tank can be droped out to chg.pump, Its up to you how you want to do it but for me i always found it easier to unbolt the bed and lift it back about a foot and i could get right at it, and i did not have to mess with the tank straps and fuel lines, If that is the problem. Chk.fuses and relay first.
SOURCE: 99 GMC sonoma will start with starting fluid then
Will the engine start on its own after the engine is warmed up?
Let me know.
Regards,
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

look in the glove compartment and you will find three relays that run the fuel pump
