Ignition "modulator"??? I assume you mean "ignition module" or "Ignition control module". If this is what you mean, it is mounted on the ignition coil assembly. Toyota refers to this part as "transistorized ignitor".

SOURCE: The 1984 Toyota 4x4 pickup truck will not idle

On a 1984 Toyota I would look for a screw to set the low speed idle on the carburetor, if so equipped. Turn the screw until the RPMs are reasonable.

If you can maintain a smooth idle by adjusting the screw your home free.

If not, then there could be other problems with your vehicle's emission, ignition, comprression, or fuel.

No spark

Hello. On toyotas, the igniter (the ignition module) is a common cause of no spark conditions. That, or the coil, or the pick-up coil inside the distributor may be your problem. Good luck.

I have 1984 Ford F150 and trouble with key ignition and won't start. Is there anyway I can use key button? And how

If your key switch will turn it could be your ignition starter switch located under the dash on the steering column. it is a small silver module with two bolts holding it on the column, and it should have two wiring plugs plugged into it. these can sometimes come apart. make sure that it is tightly together. there are metal tabs that hold it together. if that does not solve the problem check or change your distributor ignition control module, located under the hood on your driver side fender well. it is a grey box. good luck. as far as a button goes your on your own.

LOCATION OF ENGINE POSITION SENSOR

You mean the crankshaft position sensor. Just follow your spark plug wires to the coil packs and ignition module. Then there will be two wires from ignition module to crankshaft position sensor which is in lower part of the engine block
