The door open display is on the dash when the door is shut and it will not lock, is it the door shut sensor and where is it
Your door jam switch is in the area where the door hinges are connector and can be higher or lower in that cavity.
Most likely it is in the Drivers door or the passengers as they are the 2 most used doors. But sometimes the Manufacturers will include the rear cargo lid as a "door"
The switches may be gently undone like any bolt. The correct word would be censored out on this site so I must say bolt. There are usually 3 wires in each doorjam pin. You may also notice that if you have "air suspension" that the vehicle is not adjusting the suspension.
TAPE is a must before you start removing these doorjam pins. You do not want the wire harness slipping inside the doorjams. If you have any wires, tape them to prevent this problem.
If you have not found the problem, some wiring diagrams can be obtained from Autozone.com by registering your vehicle. Another site is alldatadiy.com.
I hope my solution is helpful.

there should be a switch mounted( or more than one) in the door jamb that tells the car when the car door is open...i will probably look like a little plastic plunger...might be broken off or bad internally

i HAD the same problem.... first check the fuse under the hood labeled 'dome' should be a 7.5A it is blown for sure... also if you are good with wiring and at working on cars look at the drivers side doo wiring (between the inside door jam and the drivers side floor... its the wiring that goes through the door to the cabin.... anyway you have to take off the door panel and remove a small cover on the floor of the drivers side.... now remove the two connectors that go to the wiring harness.... you should now be able to loosen the grommet and pull the wiring harness through the door via the speaker hole (you should have removed the speaker already) you now must inspect the wiring which is most likely frayed and/or broken now fix the wiring with some new wiring and crimp connectors and heat shrink your work.... should be good as new... have fun getting the wiring back through the door... it will be bigger due to the crimp on connectors etc..... i did a quick write up of this so i hope it is understandable

You need to tighten the lock mech on the boot lid. this will close the boot just enough more to turn the light on. It's no biggy, you might need a star driver depending on bolt head. move it into the boot lid approx 4mm to start. then 1mm until 10mm. if no joy then it may be the sensor.
All the best

I have the same problem right now with my 2005 G6...my neighbor works as a GM machanic and he said that the door latch (inside the door panel) is completely broken and needs to be replaced. At first I thought that it might be an elctrical thing as it was intermittent and seemed to only happen when it rained and the car got wet. It is my front passanger side door.
1 Unlock the car, get in and close the door
2 Switch ignition on
3 Press the door lock button on the dash to lock the car
4 Press and hold the door lock button on the dash, the alarm will beep
5 Keep holding the door lock button on the dash, press and hold the lock on the remote,
the alarm will beep
Repeat (5) for the other remotes,
6 leave the door lock button on the dash, the alarm will beep, switch ignition off
